The Aster Cafe is located under the trees on the prettiest street in Minneapolis. Overlooking the mighty Mississippi river and the skyline of the city, the Aster is a candle-lit restaurant-bar with a sweet European patio. Live music, great brunches, craft beers and cocktails, and a thoughtful wine list add up to City Pages calling us the “best place to go on a first date”. Our menu is fresh (no deep fryers!) and inventive. We also have lovely spaces for events and weddings, which you can check out by contacting our Event Goddess. So get down here!
Romantic eatery serving sandwiches & flatbreads, with skyline views & a summertime courtyard.

Sliders were great. The flatbread was basically a pizza. It was just okay. It was a beautiful fall day and we sat outside. WARNING – there were hornets everywhere and I got stung badly as I went to pick up our wine bottle and put a refill and did not realize a hornet was sitting on the bottle. Ouch!!
Not a place to go if you are allergic to bees!
I returned the MSP after 8 years for a wedding and just had to have lunch here. The views of the cities, right on the Mississippi River, and delicious bites keep me coming back.
We put our name down, it was about a 15 min wait at about 1pm. Just enough time to snap a picture on the Stone Arch Bridge and walk back to be seated.
Everything in the menu is fresh and bright. Not as heavy as most mid-west food can be.
We loved the quiche, pizza, and pear and beet salad.
Dog friendly patio, so bring your fur babies for lunch!
Also live music sometimes!
This is a special spot and I’m so glad to see it still thriving.
Definitely no complaints about the yummy food though. It took forever to get our bill and it took a long time just to get some water.
We wanted to sit inside but they said it would be a $6 cover charge for each of us including our special needs disabled child because there was a live band playing inside.
When I looked inside there were literally two people sitting up at the bar and then one person eventually sitting at the bar and nobody actually sitting inside to eat.
