The sashimi was really good, the sushi not so good as the rice was flavorless. The real issue was with the service, they serve as if they want you to leave fast. It was my sister birthday and we wanted to surprise her with cake and candles but the waiter got confused and brought a desert from another table, when they realized that, they came in a hurry to sing happy birthday and in the middle of the singing they switched the deserts and told nothing as if we wouldnt notice. My diner was below expectation. The restaurant is nice, the food tasted well, but the staff can improve a lot. It took more than an hour to get my first order of just two sushi rolls. They tasted well, yet there were a few parts of very hard rice in them. Furthermore, if you have a nice kitchen table, it is also important that the chef’s behave representative. Yet they were sometimes throwing with food/fish, being quite sloppy and it did just not look that pleasant to watch your food being prepared. The waiters were also very chaotic and seemed to not work that well together.

We sat at the bar because we did not make a reservation and there was a 40 minute + wait for a table of 2. We went on a Saturday night and decided to just wing it so this makes sense seeing as though the restaurant is very popular and received a Michelin star last year (2024). We really enjoyed the food, service and ambiance here. I liked being about to watch the sushi chefs preparing everything! They were very talented and incredibly efficient, truly a special experience. We tried an array of different appetizers and rolls, all of which were so good! I even tried the “Canan” shot which is considered a “welcoming” to Brazil that is a combination of 3 different kinds of Cachącas from around Brazil. Would definitely recommend making reservations but also worth waiting for as well! Service was good, too, despite a serious language barrier. (They will provide you with a QR code to access an English menu)

The initial product was good quality and fresh but the execution of sushi and rolls was not good! It wasn’t tasty at all. Very disappointed with this place because it was recommended everywhere but it didn’t live up to expectations unfortunately.

Sushi Leblon is an excellent restaurant that never disappoints with fabulous food, extremely friendly staff and a great vibe in one of Leblon’s coolest streets. Very few restaurants manage to consistently serve top notch quality food for almost four decades in a row, always remaining relevant and up to date with latest food trends. Sushi Leblon is truly worth booking and certainly not to be missed when visiting Rio.
