Our server Tasha was incredibly kind and attentive, she never missed a water or coffee refill, which is quite amazing. She noticed when we sat down that we were looking around and she came to check on us, we told her we were looking for my father. She walked up front and found him for us. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice. Ultimately I’d go back just to have Tasha’s amazing service

I’m in town for a convention and decided to try out Mel’s Diner for breakfast. Turns out it was a very good decision!
I liked their decor. It looked like a 1960’s diner. The only thing missing was the tabletop jukebox controls .
After being shown to my table and reviewing the menu I opted for the Taco Omelette. It was made perfectly and I enjoyed every bite. There was an abundance of diced jalapeños and made it a nice, spicy breakfast.
The wait staff was friendly and appreciated my joke.
I enjoyed my visit and meal at Mel’s Diner in Yakima, WA.

Excellent retro-styled diner, very authentic to period and rich in details.
I ordered a pancake special, and I love that they were considerate enough to bring the pancakes on the bacon and eggs on separate plates.
Solid diner experience with strong nostalgia vibes.

Staff is so cheerful and kind, our group had unexpected guests and they quickly put tables together. They were extremely busy but the food came out quickly and we never felt neglected. Love the 50s dinner atmosphere. Highly recommend the steak tips and eggs! We can’t wait to go back the next time we have in Yakima.

We have actually made short vacations to Yakima because we wanted to go to Mel’s Diner. I get the Mel’s Scramble pretty much every time, but I’ve had a few other things too. My wife really enjoyed the Chorizo Omelette too, but there’s just something about that scramble… oh yeah, it’s the corn tortillas chopped up and mixed in. Amazing. And the service is top notch, it’s rare any more to find a place that keeps the coffee coming; most places don’t refill the first cup till they have to bring your food. Mel’s understands the business.on top of that, thay are extremely personable, including the owner Fred, who has more times than not been the one to greet us, seat us and bring our coffee.

Wow! Just like the name suggests! Takes you back in time! The menu was a little bit high but once we got our food it was worth every penny! I had their unusual Hamburger BLT Club sandwich with fries and it was not just filling, but there was a flavor I couldn’t quite put my finger on and it was the best sandwich I’ve eaten in a very long time! I would suggest travelers and locals who haven’t yet taken a chance on this “back to the’50s” restaurant to stop and experience what we did. And take pictures!

We just moved to Yakima and have been looking for a comfortable place to have a nice breakfast in an inviting atmosphere. For us, we found it at Mel’s Diner! Friendly, smiling staff. Nostalgic 60s atmosphere. Breakfast was delightful. We can’t wait to go back and try their lunch.
Give Mel’s a try. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

This is the best All American, family run diner in the world by far. Limitless coffee, loads of chrome, airbrushed panels, neon signs. This should never change. Take your business here, spend all your money and lets vote MEL FOR PRESIDENT

Excellent Diner to visit and have a meal. Very clean, staff was very friendly and the food excellent. There was a great crowd, a lot of locals, all greeting one another by first name. The portions were large and very reasonably priced. I had the Taco Omelet (never seen that before, hey, what can I say, I’ve led a sheltered life) and it was splitting at the seams with filling, no joke. It had great seasoning and was delicious). Also tried one of the Belgium Waffles, it was perfect. The bacon that came with it crisped just right. Aside from the food I enjoyed the atmosphere, not being around in the 50’s, I thought it spot on for a 50’s Dinner, music included, some great oldies were playing (and not too loud, but just right). Having found this place, I can tell you it is going to be one of my regular stops whenever I’m around. If you’re looking for something different from today’s normal chain restaurants, this is the place. If the owner should somehow see this, I salute you, you’ve got a great place here.
