Social Profile:

The Gilmore family began their stewardship of the legendary Rose’s On Reeds Lake in 1992. Rose’s is the last remaining building from the Romona Park era – arguably the most colorful chapter in the history of East Grand Rapids. The Gilmores are honored to bring their brand of dining and hospitality to the shores of Reeds Lake. The menu has gone through many changes over the years, but at its core, remains a pleasant fusion of Mediterranean, Italian and American cuisines. A few time-honored traditions remain on the menu–most notably Bub Rose’s burger and Rose’s legendary caramel corn. The atmosphere on the patio and four-season deck is peaceful with fantastic views of Waterfront Park, the Grand Rapids Yacht Club and Rose’s own private marina.

Historic spot with a lakeside view offers Mediterranean, Italian & casual American eats.

Lunch at Rose’s is always a treat. I came here second time for a friend’s birthday brunch and the food was fantastic as usual. I had the burger and root vegetables. The burger was great and my friends enjoyed their meal as well. The atmosphere is always lively and the view of the lake is worth a visit even in the winter. They don’t accept reservations but their service is very fast and getting a table shouldn’t be too difficult.

We came in here on a Monday evening for Happy Hour. Drinks and apps overlooking the water. Fantastic atmosphere. Our server was Cam and he was very attentive. He made our experience top-notch. We got a couple of pub style pizzas and some appetizers including their homemade root chips, and shrimp tapas. I had a bit of everything and topped it off with a Bell’s brown ale (or two.)

We got dinner for our 3 year wedding anniversary here in November. We were sat on the enclosed patio with a beautiful view of the lake. Our waitress was so sweet. The food was delicious, and the popcorn at the end was a very sweet treat.
Only “con” was there drink were a bit strong for my liking, but that’s just my personal taste I think.

Always a great place to eat. Kay, our server was beyond EXCELLENT in all the ways; thank you Kay! Waited at bar until a table opened up outdoors. We kindve felt invisible for a good 10 Minutes however. Took a lot to get a drink even tho there were only 4 other ppl sitting at bar. Bar backs too busy making/pouring drinks for restaurant I’m thinking. More help, or at very least, quicker acknowledgement of our presence would have made all the difference. Bartenders seemed very stressed.

We have eaten here several times and had good food. This time I tried the pot roast. I was surprised at how bland it was. Very little seasoning, some of the vegetables are not particularly well done. I would avoid that dish.

One of my big beefs is getting nickeled and dimed at a restaurant. This upscale restaurant has decided to add a 3% surcharge. It’s a sneaky way to add more cost to your bill. If you need to raise prices, then do that. Sneaky fees are like junk fees the airlines or Ticketmaster loads on you. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth that makes me more reluctant to return. I’m sure I’ll get a response saying how it’s just customary if I get a response, Buddy is a small subsection of restaurants that do this sneaky thing. I think it’s crap, and should be avoided. It’s soured the experience while padding the restaurants bottom line by less than $2. Not worth it in the long run in my mind. Respect your customers and have the gumption to raise your prices if you have to.

This rating is for take out order for Thanksgiving dinner for the family.

Food was very good, substantial serving sizes, and well packaged.

Next time use aluminum containers ready for the oven. We could have used printed instructions for reheating. There was some debate in our kitchen for the final presentation.

Definitely worth the money. Plus I enjoyed a nice martini from good bartenders, while waiting for the take out order.

Roses is located in gaslight village next to the boat launch. The scenery around the place is absolutely beautiful. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Open the kitchen so you can see them cooking. Coat hooks on the ends of every booth. They have an inclosed patio, which also has ceiling fans to help when its hot. The restaurant is stunning. Now the food, it did not take our breath away. My friend got the mac and cheese, and she said it’s the worst she had ever had. It didn’t have a cheese flavor to it. It’s more like butter and light herbs. My angel hair pasta was good for the most par. It had cured meat in it tho and wasn’t the best. Kids portions were small like maybe 5 yr old small. The deserts were fantastic tho.Overall, it was a nice experience, but the food just wouldn’t get us back.

Our first visit to this restaurant was an incredible experience. Our server, Tim, played a pivotal role in making it so memorable. The food was delicious, but Tim’s exceptional knowledge and friendly demeanor truly elevated the overall experience. I would eagerly return just to have him serve me again!

We very much enjoy having a comfortable, dependable restaurant close by. One is welcomed by a busy, upbeat atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. During the warmer months it’s delightful to sit under an umbrella lakeside and in winter to sit close to a crackling fire. Roses menu has a daily special for both food and beverages that changes with the seasons as well as reliable staples. The traditional Carmel corn after- dinner treat harkens back to the early days of Roses as part of Reeds Lake’s historic past.
