As a family owned and operated business, Popeye’s on Lake Geneva went from a small 60 seat pub in 1972 to a full service restaurant with a seating capacity of 600 plus. Popeye’s is known for their outdoor rotisserie which features roasted meats cooked over hardwood charcoal. Many would say that their claim to fame is their homemade soups! I have personally come here quite a few times over the last 10 years, and they have never disappointed. This particular time was especially great for a family girls trip. Food was on par, with no issues. Service and atmosphere as always was very welcoming. We sat inside as it was too windy out for a bunch of chatty women. Nice and quiet otherwise though. Our waiter was timely and very polite. I truly look forward to another visit soon!!

Elec took great care of me while he was learning the ropes from the manager training him! Great conversation and great food! This is a rotisserie restaurant. I had the omg cheeseburger which was pretty good! The onion rings were awesome too.

It was a great experience overall. Our server Cory was amazing and so professional and friendly even though it was Winterfest and it was packed! She was always smiling and very attentive. Loved the atmosphere and we were seated away from the major dining area which was nice as it was pretty noisy with all of the people. The salmon was excellent. Great experience.

My boyfriend and I went to Popeye’s in Lake Geneva for Valentine’s Day, expecting a nice, modestly priced dinner while we were out walking around town. My boyfriend grew up in Lake Geneva, so we were excited to try a local spot. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
The prices were already higher than we expected — $40 for a ribeye that didn’t even include fully dressed sides. The baked potato required an extra charge just for basic toppings, and the vegetable portion was just a couple spears of broccoli and a few carrots.
The biggest issue was the steak itself. It was dry, overcooked, thin, and chewy — almost as if it had been pounded out. I couldn’t even finish it. For $40, that’s simply unacceptable.
Our waitress started off very pleasant, and I don’t want this review to reflect poorly on her personally. However, when we asked for a small refill of wonton chips (since the original portion was small compared to the amount of dip served), we were told it would be an additional $5 just to refill the basket. That felt excessive and left a bad impression.
By the end of the night, our bill was around $200 for two meals and four drinks. For that price, we expected a much better quality meal and overall experience. It honestly wasn’t even worth $50.
We really wanted to enjoy our Valentine’s dinner here, but sadly, we left feeling disappointed and overcharged.

Amazing view of the lake, wonderful waitress yesterday, large delicious portions! Had the lobster Brie flatbread which was 10/10 perfect. Loved the flowery touch and overall nautical vibes of the place.

The greasiest food I’ve ever had! My friend and I got the artichoke dip and ruben rolls. The dip had a puddle of oil and chips tasted stale. The ruben rolls were so greasy we couldn’t even eat them. $34 with tip for food we could even eat. Definitely wouldn’t go here again or recommend this place unless you enjoy drinking grease.

Lakefront dining at Popeye’s in Lake Geneva. Prime rib was about a 6 out of 10. A little tough. Asked for medium rare. I would call this medium.
Prices were high. Soda is $5.00!! Busy day in Lake Geneva, lots of visitors. They are looking to change the restaurant name soon.
Location is perfect, but food is not so great. Restaurant could use a little updating. Maybe they will after the name change. Bathrooms were not so great. Prices are too high for what you get. This place needs a little work.

Had really high expectations for this cute restaurant that faces the lake, but not only was the waitress rude, but the food was gross. We wanted to sit on the patio, so when a woman came to seat us, my husband started to walk to sit away from the crowd a bit, she said we had to sit closer because of the server stations, and then it ended up she sat us at her own table and was our server. She was rude from the get-go, just dismissive and not friendly, and just not a good waitress all around.
I got the rotisserie chicken wrap, and it was absolutely awful. Totally full of greasy and disgusting grizzly dark meat chicken that I had to remove to even eat the wrap. It was supposed to have barbecue sauce (it’s a bbq place) and there was hardly any. I also asked for onion rings and she gave me french fries. We asked for an extra side of ranch dressing and barbecue sauce and she forgot both of those as well. My husband’s meal was okay, but nothing impressive enough to even mention.
We spent $75 on a lousy meal with terrible service. We’ll never go back, total waste of money.
