Sandwiches are some of the best you’ll find in LA. We’ve been coming for years and will continue coming for more!

The favorite is of course the godmother with the works. You can never go wrong with the Jamon Serrano and just today tried a new sandwich – chicken Parmesan. It’s messy but so good!

Plenty of side and drink options as well as meats, cheeses, breads, pantry goods, wines and more!

I go here when I’m in the area. The sandwich to get is the spicy Gdmother with the works. People line up for this sandwich. They also make them ahead of time as they are so popular. I actually got the tuna the last few times which is also amazing. Their bread is so fresh – crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. This is a must go to place! Be prepared to try and find a parking space and to wait in line but it is well worth it. It’s also an Italian deli where you can find all things Italian.

Ok, so Bay Cities has officially earned four paws up!

Known to be one of those legendary Santa Monica spots my humans have talked about, and we finally stopped by. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the manager, Hector, who was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. First impressions matter, and he absolutely set the tone.

Our sandwiches came out promptly with no issues, and we took everything outside to enjoy the fresh air. Excellent sandwiches, artisan chips, and micro-brew sodas. Relaxed outdoor seating and an all-around smooth experience.

We’ll definitely be back.

Best Italian deli and market in southern California. Extremely authentic and high quality foods. Any kind of Italian food you can think of they have. Went in for a sub and left with two of them. If you’re ordering a sub make sure you grab a ticket at the counter because they will call the numbers based on whose turn it is to order. Gotta check out the market as well. I recommend their signature sub the godmother but both were wicked good.

Legendary Deli store with an amazing atmosphere and stuff. Very friendly, kind with free parking and with sunny seating outside, fun environment.

Regarding the food, they have amazing selection of sandwiches, warm food and pre-made food what you can also take home. My current selection was the Godfather which was okay. The bread was a bit chewy and not that crispy as I expected but maybe it’s just me. Overall they have very good stuff and will definitely come back!

Italian market with a deli counter. We came for the sandwiches. It was pretty busy when we got there but the staff was efficient and friendly, we were able to park, order and checkout within 20 min. ‘The Godmother’ sandwich with the works is the way to go if you want a definitive Italian sandwich. Shoutout to the guy who took our order (he was giving store owner energy) but he made the ordering process super easy as a first-timer. Would definitely recommend and come back. Perfect for a takeaway sandwich on a summer beach day

Back like they never left!

The short hiatus of one of LA’s most iconic Italian delis was brief, yet tumultuous as I briefly feared a summer without the Godmother sandwich. Thank goodness that’s behind us

Now if sandwiches aren’t your thing, fine and don’t fear, Bay cities has something for everyone. In addition to the deli counter, they offer a hot bar, and refrigerated section of chilled salads, dips and more. This grocery store first Italian deli second style shop makes it the perfect pitstop on your way to the beach or picnic.

Now if you are normal and do like sandwiches, they are known for their spin on the classic Italian sandwich, iconically known as the Godmother. Get any sub you want, but what you’re here for is that freshly baked loaf style bread they make all their sandwiches with. If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to stand at the deli, find their most popular subs premade in grab and go cold rack in the back.

A cold drink and a bag of chips and you’ll have yourself the best day!

So proud of this neighborhood staple. Pro tip bring your debit card or cash, no credit cards are accepted last I checked.

Ciao!
Xx,
H

Great Italian sandwich spot in Santa Monica.

I ordered their most popular sandwich – the Godmother, and it was really good. All the ingredients tasted fresh. I also liked the sauce, it mixed very well with all the meat in the sandwich. The bread was also good but it was a bit hard and made it a little tougher to chew but overall it tasted good. I didn’t ask for specific bread, it was standard one but probably you can ask for softer bread when you order. The portion was generous for that price. I got a large sandwich and was pretty full afterward.

The place itself is more like an Italian grocery store. They sell all kinds of staff – from pasta to gelatos. The atmosphere was a bit chaotic, at first it was not easy to find where to order the sandwich. There are several ways to get it:
1) Grab the ticket and wait for your number to order your sandwich
2) Grab already made sandwich from the fridge in the back of the store
3) Order online and pickup it in the back of the store

They make sandwiches pretty fast, mine was ready in 5-7 minutes. There is an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your sandwich. There is no public restroom so just be aware.

Overall, I had a great experience and will come back and try some other sandwiches.

Really cute spot with friendly people working there, but I don’t think the vegetarian sandwich was at all worth the price. It was pretty dry and the bread was hard to chew, and it just wasn’t anything special.
