If your mom has passed away, and your wife ain’t skilled in the kitchen, then you need to visit Kiss the Cook Restaurant. There’s no place in Phoenix like this place, I tell you what. And if you’re a good southern boy, here’s your sign… you gotta go.
Now remember, in small towns service is slower, and this establishment accurately resembles the small town service. It’s friendly, no doubt, but these people are human, so cool your jets.
The coffee was served in a clear glass, which I’ll admit is a touch strange. And to our surprise (or perhaps our misunderstanding of the menu) we received a basket of mini muffins and butter (tossed in with the muffins to soften it, nice touch!). The muffins were a mixed bag of flavors, not quality, and were fantastic. Tangentially, I don’t understand why these individual containers of “butter” are refrigerated in the first place, which necessitates the tossing in with the muffins for melting prior to the spreading process, but I digress….
When our meals arrived we were starving, and we dealt a swift devouring to them. We were both quite pleased with our choices, and the leftovers were minimal. Chris, our server, was sweet like the muffins and kind like, well, a server should be.
For our breakfast dessert we grabbed the last slice of cherry pie and an afterthought slice of blueberry, both à la mode, which means with ice cream. Don’t you dare order pie without ice cream, or Chris will give you that side eye. And you don’t want that side eye from Chris.

We were looking for a dog-friendly breakfast spot and were so happy to find Kiss the Cook! Their dog-friendly patio was perfect, and our pup loved it just as much as we did. The staff absolutely pampered her with her own water bowl and even homemade dog treats, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We especially enjoyed the mini muffins, homemade cinnamon roll, oatmeal, omelet, and the best breakfast potatoes I’ve had in a really long time.
We’ll definitely be back!

When you walk in it has a nice, warm, and cozy feeling. The waitresses are so nice, friendly, welcoming, and helpful on recommending breakfast! I had the biscuits and gravy! Mom had the huevos rancheros and my sister had the pancake plate! We picked at each others food everything tasted good! But the All Star of the bunch, was the homemade red chili!!! Omg!! Amazing!!! We will definitely be back! Thank you all ❤️

Great home atmosphere and home cooking. Some restaurants say its home cooking and use sysco foods and frozen potatoes. Not at kiss the cook! Real cut potatoes and the hamburgers are hand made. Probably the best hamburger I’ve had in a long time. Service was awesome! I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending to my friends and family. See you guys soon !!

This place has quickly become a favorite breakfast spot for my boyfriend and I. They have incredible, friendly people working there that make you feel super welcome. We came in with our dog and sat on their dog friendly patio and he was treated like royalty. They had an amazing dog menu and a lot of the staff came out to greet him and he loved all of the attention. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is amazing. We had a blast and they even took photos of us and Oliver. He loved his breakfast there and so did we (especially the muffin basket). The best place, such an amazing experience!

This cozy family-run spot has been around for over 100 years and still serves up great food at reasonable prices. The portions are big, the menu has tons of variety, and the service is super friendly, though parking and seating can be a bit tight. I loved my build-your-own omelette, the free muffins were amazing, and overall I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

Server was very nice, inside is very pretty, and the pancakes themselves was a bit salty for my taste, but the small sweet treats were the best.

Let me tell you, this place is AMAZING! A City of Glendale STAPLE! You could eat this food cold and it’d still be good! Country friend steak and pancakes are an A+. I hope they stay around forever, until I die at least.

The food was very good. We will definitely go there again. It is homemade food. We had corn beef hash, biscuits, gravy, home potatoes and the mini muffins were very tasty too. Chris was our server and she was very friendly and on top of it.

I have lived in the area for the past 4 years and have driven by this place thousands of times and have never noticed it. My mom was in town and we were looking for a new place to eat and found this place. The food was awesome, the atmosphere was very homey and old fashioned which is my thing! Our server, Denise was very very friendly, and provided awesome service! Although the name should be slap the cook instead of kiss the cook because the food is so darn good!
