Star of India is Salt Lake City’s finest place to enjoy Northern Indian cuisine. We welcome you to come share in our family’s traditions of creating flavorful Indian food. All of our dishes are prepared fresh on the premises from natural ingredients. Among other Indian delicacies, we specialize in chicken curry, lamb, seafood, halal meat and pure vegetable entrees. We offer menu ordering only for lunch and dinner – our buffet is no longer available.

Star of India has truly become one of my favourite spots for authentic Indian food in Salt Lake City. I tried their Chilli Chicken Tikka Masala and Shajahani Chicken Biryani, and both dishes were absolutely outstanding. The chicken was tender, the spices were perfectly balanced, and the biryani had that rich, aromatic flavour you only find in real Indian kitchens. Every bite felt freshly made with care and attention to detail.
The service is the real highlight here warm, genuine, and full of heart. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the lady with the constant smile truly makes you feel at home. They check on you often, serve with patience, and ensure that every customer leaves happy and satisfied. It’s rare to see this level of hospitality these days!
The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and gives off a cosy, welcoming vibe perfect for both family dinners and casual meet-ups.
If you’re in Salt Lake City, Star of India is a must-try. Great food, excellent service, and a wonderful experience overall. You’ll definitely want to come back again!

Param (owner) was our server and was extremely friendly. Gave us really good recommendations and we chatted a little bit. My friend and I stopped by for dinner. The food was delicious! For starters, we got vegetable samosas. Then for the entree, I got the coconut curry with a medium-level spice and it was great. I had Saffron Valley recently but this place is much better.

You ever been to a resturaunt and ordered something and you’re eating and you think “dang. I didnt know I needed this today” after the second bite? Of course after the second bite cause you couldn’t believe it after the first. Between the awesome customer service and food I was honestly happy to come here twice in a week. The staff was friendly. Now…. I am not complaining because I have patience, they do take a decent time to prepare your order but it is worth it once it comes out. If you’re just passing through SLC or you’re a local, I highly recommend Star of India. You won’t regret it.

Yummy food. Very homely in taste. The owner was very sweet and shared her recommendations for appetizers, we got the vegetable pakoda and it was yum. Definitely worth trying authentic Indian food when in SLC. I have to add that garlic naan was very very soft and one of the best I have had in the entire US.

Wow! Amazing service and quality Indian food! They recently moved locations and the new building is beautiful. Very bright, welcoming, and thoughtfully laid out. It’s located in a nice corner lot with a couple other businesses. Well maintained and good parking.

The owner is absolutely fantastic and incredibly friendly. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel welcome and took the time to talk with us about the menu. She offered thoughtful recommendations and even let us try a few taste tests so we could experience the flavors before deciding. You can really tell she has a genuine passion for what she does and takes pride in creating a great experience for her customers.

First timer & everything was a 10/10. The owner Param is very kind & welcoming! The restaurant is also very nice & clean. I ordered the vegetarian chana masala (medium hot) & garlic naan. Also got some hot chai which was delicious for this gloomy weather. Will definitely be back. Best Indian cuisine I had so far!

Star of India is a true gem in Salt Lake City! I had the Lamb Coconut Korma and it was outstanding. The lamb was tender and flavorful in a creamy, perfectly spiced coconut sauce that hit all the right notes. The restaurant itself is spotless and very well kept, which really added to the overall dining experience. The staff were incredibly personable, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely made me feel welcome. You can tell they take pride not only in their food but also in how they treat their guests. This is easily one of the best dining experiences I have had in the city and I will definitely be back!

Best choice we made when we were around SLC. Great food and service. Their veg pakora was one of the best I’ve had after ages.
