The food was so fresh with very high quality ingredients. The appetizer with eggs and truffles to die for. The main was so delicious as well. Ending with the dessert which was very tasty.
The steak and sauce were all great, but it cooled down so quick outdoors that it just wasn’t good anymore. The sauce froze to the point where it wasn’t usable. Foie gras was very delicious, and the leak appetizer was decent, but again – ruined by the cold.
All this to say, the first bites were good, and went down hill really fast due to the cold. While I usually don’t blame the restaurant for this, at this price, I’m surprised they even allow people to sit outside, as it completely ruins their food.
It’s where I don’t think even outside heaters would help – a heated table or a continuously heated plate would be required here.
Just very disappointed in what seems like could be a really good meal otherwise. The servers were amazing and gave us a great time otherwise.
There was a slight mistranslation of the menu, my friends wanted steak fillet and accidentally ordered a hamburg steak. The very kindly fired up (off menu) steak fillet to meet the desired request.
Amazing food, wine and ambience! Service was especially catering to our special requests.
However the service wasn’t great at all. We sat down outside, as our booking was in the terrace. We were expecting to be cold so we layered up! Unfortunately the lady on that section just never checked on us, she cleared all other tables, and was very talkative with other customers, topping up their wine, but never once checked on us. We waited 15 minutes for our empty and stacked plates to be cleared, at that point we were just freezing and weren’t very happy.
The chocolate mousse took ages to come, i had to get up and ask the lady what was going on, as the lady didn’t keep us informed, again its very frustrating seeing her going to every table but ours.
Overall i believe this place is definitely worth going for the food, but for the price you pay i expect a lot better service, especially if customers are outside in the freezing weather.
We ordered baked oysters, foie gras, seared scallops and pan-fried skate fish. All dishes were nicely done and delicious. As we are not meat-lovers, we still had a great time. A reservation is highly recommended.
The pâté en croûte is superb: a perfect balance of rich, delicate filling wrapped in golden, flaky pastry, executed with both finesse and generosity. The Bresse chicken — tender, juicy, and deeply flavorful — is a true showcase of France’s finest poultry, cooked with respect for tradition and a light touch that lets the ingredient shine.
But the standout dish for me was the tomato tart. A deceptively simple plate that captured the essence of late-summer produce, it was bright, sweet, and full of layered flavors, each bite reminding me why French bistro cooking is so beloved.
Le Bon Georges doesn’t just serve a meal; it offers an experience of honest French gastronomy, rooted in quality and respect for the seasons. A place to return to again and again.
We decided to opt for the Chef’s Table, which included a 6 course tasting menu prepared by Chef Loïc Lobet. The meal was a masterpiece that was highlighted by our witnessing every dish being prepared and seeing the meticulous care that Chef Lobet and his sous chef, Simon, were putting into every dish.
We had caviar and venison and sashimi tuna and sweet breads and sea bass, complete with all the accoutrement sauces and reductions that was just a Tour de Force in French cuisine.
As you might expect with the Wine Spectator designation, the wine list should actually be referred to as a Wine Bible, as it is massive and will leave you drooling over the various selections that are available. I would have loved for this meal to have had a wine pairing option, but nevertheless, we enjoyed many glasses of white and red wine from various parts of France.
There is also an AMAZING Cigar humidor and menu that features the best from Cuba as well as a complete cognac selection if the mood strikes.
Lastly, the team and the service provided was incredible. The entire evening was a five hour affair and by the time we left, the entire back room (three tables) was sharing port and stories like we were old friends, but in reality had just met that evening through the introductory bridge that was the masterful Le Bon Georges experience.
When we come back to Paris…we will be back and will recommend this location to anyone that’s looking for a world class meal that just leaves you wanting more. Thank you to the entire team at Le Bon Georges! – Sincerely, Aaron & Nikki Decker
