We stopped by for a bite to eat after grabbing drinks downtown and it turned out to be a great choice. The food was delicious and I appreciated that they offered a vegetarian substitution with the Beyond Picadillo which was excellent. My partner had the nachos which were also really good. Our server was super sweet and attentive and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed making it an easy place to enjoy a meal.

It’s been years since I have been to Matador so when my friend wanted to come here for her birthday dinner, it was an easy automatic yes. I was running a little behind so my group was sat, got some goodies and drinks started before I showed up. By the time I arrived, they had started a guac and salsa flight with a couple drinks. What they ordered looked fabulous.

I have always loved the setting of this joint. The decor, the big decorative mirrors, the rich colored tones, the little candles lit up and placed around the restaurant. It’s such a romantic vibe. Regardless if you’re there on a date or with a big group, the vibe is so chill and intimate.

Our server finally came back around to us. I asked her for their non alcoholic options. I appreciate that they have stars by some of the drinks to let you know that they can be made alcohol free. They also have alcohol free tequila! As good as that sounds, I just ordered the strawberry mangonada without the extras. While she got my drink started we looked over the menu and figured out what kind of goodies we wanted for dinner. I was still gonna full from a big lunch so I decided on the carne asada quesadilla from their starter menu.

Orders were taken and my drink was dropped off. It was pretty. I love the little dainty strawberry on the side. I love me a good mangonada. The sweet of the mango, the salty of the tajin/chamoy. It had to be that much better with strawberry added to it. Well, I anticipated it to taste sweet and salty but unfortunately it was just too salty. It wasn’t balanced and the tajin over powered everything. I had asked Heidi, our server for a glass of sparkling water. She could tell by my facial expression I wasn’t too fond of my drink. She was so sweet about it and suggest another mocktail for me. I went with her suggestion and got the traditional strawberry mango margarita mocktail. So much better!

My quesadilla was the perfect size! It had a nice amount of carne asada and pico in it. The tortilla was crispy and nicely charred. It was paired with a lime crema and guac. Both with such a great addition to the carne asada. I had a little over half and was so full! Well, I was so full until dessert came. Birthday girl got some dessert and she needed help with it! As a true friend I had the take one for the team and help her eat the sweets. Mannnnn the brownie with ice cream was delicious! The brownie was chocolatety and rich. The ice cream had caramel drizzled all over it and was so good with the brownie. There was also fried ice cream. The cereal flakes with the coconut rolled into the ice cream ball was tasty! I love how chewy the crust gets when it soaks up the vanilla ice cream. After several bites of both desserts, I had to tap out. I was so full from it all!

Matador is hands down one of the best local restaurants in the valley. The venue is stunning, the setting is chill, our server, Heidi was fantastic and the meal was great! I need to frequent this joint more often! I have forgotten how amazing this place is! I look forward to coming back for another great experience.

Was in Boise for business and got a couple recommendations from locals and Matador was top of the list. Stopped in on Monday, they don’t take reservations but they said Monday is fairly slow so we shouldn’t have a problem. We walked in and got seated instantly. Very friendly staff who gave us great recommendations from the food and drink menu. I ordered the carne asada and it did not disappoint! Skirt steak grilled at a perfect medium rare. Atmosphere was also great. Sort of moody and dimly lit. It would make for a fantastic date night spot! If I ever come back to Boise, I will definitely be back!

Kinda hesitant to order a burger from a Mexican restaurant but here we are. I got the waygu double just to try it. This might be my favorite new menu item here. The fried ice cream satisfying the sweet tooth. That Pina not colada drink was very refreshing. Something the bartender whipped up.

We had a 20-minute wait, but the restaurant texts when your table is ready. The two of us shared starters so we could try more- 5 street tacos (juicy and flavorful) and the dip flight. A great meal with a couple of cold Modelos really dished off a fun day in Boise!

I’m not sure what the low reviewers here are ranting about; probably unrealistic expectations. The food and drinks here are exceptional. We ordered two margaritas, and the dip flight. It was incredible. For main, burrito and an enchilada, it was flavorful and well served! Highly recommend! Coming from a guy who lived in San Antonio for a couple years. Cost is very reasonable.

This is a must try spot for Mexican in Boise! Service was great and super quick/attentive. The portions are very generous and chips and salsa are complimentary. I ordered the habanero burrito. Absolutely fire! one of the better burritos I’ve had. Definitely would come back!

I loved the food I ordered. Unfortunately my waitress took my half eaten plate mid bite and asked my friend if she would “die” because of her severe allergy. Super disappointed in the hosts communication with us as well. Overall, loved the part of the food I received but did not love the service.

Just went there and this place is definitely a go to place when we are in downtown Boise. I forgot to take a picture before we all started eating but the food was SO GOOD!!! The Brussel sprouts were amazing! Our server kept checking on us and she was outstanding. 11/10 recommend! We will definitely be back! #MatadorRocks

Host was lovely — said bartenders were her favorite, but these same bartenders clearly didn’t want to be bothered with me. Was intending to stay for a full dinner and then some, but got weird vibes and left after one drink/app. Not welcoming, no customer service even though the bar was empty when I arrived. IYKYK.
