My wife and daughters love the sides here, and of course, the steaks are amazing. Since my wife and I don’t eat huge portions, we usually share a steak—and they always offer to serve it already split onto two plates. No other steakhouse has ever offered that! This Valentine’s Day 2026, Rogelio took great care of us. Highly recommended!

It was our first time here. Didn’t feel welcomed.
We had to wait for over half an hour for our food
Felt like they forgot about us
Then came the food
One item missing
Had to remind the server what he missed
Never going back again

Food was okay
But atmosphere and staff

I enjoy eating at Saltgrass and have gone to several locations. I decided to give this one a try because it was close to where I was. This location was less than usual on the food quality. Started out with an order of 4 Range Rattlers and it looked like there were 2 on the plate. 2 were the normal plump size and the other 2 were kind of de constructed and small. No big deal, even though they are not cheap. Then my tortilla soup. They were out of the tortilla strip chips so just brought it plain. No mention of it before I ordered or asking if I wanted to substitute. The steaks came, they were just ok, I ate every bite but they were a little overcooked. All together I can say it was average. The waitress was nice and I tipped her well. If you are in a rush this place is OK but I find the location on 75 near 635 to have much better service, cleaner restrooms, and better food. The one off 30 in Rockwall or Rowlette/ across Lake Ray Hubbard is also very good. I just wasn’t impressed with this location.

I’ve been to a few different locations over the past 8 years so and here is why Saltgrass gets two stars from me this last time. I would normally give it three. Here is what happened during my last visit..

1. I asked the hostess for a booth for three adults. She said she had a half booth with seats available on one side. As she walked us to the table, I noticed an empty booth right next to the half booth she was taking us to and said, “Can we just get this full booth? (The half booth was right in the walkway)?” She rolled her eyes and was clearly annoyed. She said, “sure.” I’m thinking, great considering I’m with my 86 year old dad and I want him to be a comfortable as possible.

2. Every time I order a steak from here, it is overcooked. My $39.99 filet was cooked well done when I ordered medium. I don’t even care for the filet oscar sauce that they put on their filet oscar!

3. It took 20 minutes to get my drink and by the time I was done with it, I realized that we had not even received bread yet. The bread was not even warm or even that good! I also love bread and I’m not a fan of it from here.

4. The waitress was decent, but not great for the $250 tab. He did tell me that he hooked me up with extra salad, but who wants extra salad before a steak dinner? Not me.

5. Even the mac n’ cheese isn’t very good from here. As a steakhouse, you should excel. For example, throw some toasted breadcrumbs up on that mac n’ cheese or something!!!

I recommend just cooking an amazing filet at home versus coming here or just go to a high end steakhouse where things are done the correct way in order to really satisfy a potentially recurring customer.

Not a fan.

I recently visited Saltgrass and ordered the blackened redfish topped with grilled shrimp, paired with a classic baked potato. The fish was well-seasoned with a nice balance of spice and flavor, and the shrimp were grilled just right—tender and tasty without being overcooked. The baked potato was fluffy on the inside with all the traditional fixings, making it a hearty and satisfying side.

What really stood out was the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was to my liking without being intrusive. While I wouldn’t call it an exceptional or gourmet-level meal, it was solid, flavorful, and enjoyable overall. Between the welcoming atmosphere, decent portion sizes, and attentive customer service, it made for a pleasant dining experience worth repeating.

The service was mediocre at best. Let’s just start there. Service is the number one thing for me. If you drop the ball there, I’m done, and nothing else really matters. First of all, as a waiter, don’t bring items to a table of four, for just three people, and then dismiss the guest’s request for said items. (Side note: she never brought them.) Secondly, check on your table more especially when the restaurant is at 40% (give or take). When you don’t, you make it seem as though “my” presence is irrelevant or a nonfactor for you. My reservations rang true when the waiter brought out cold food to my wife and me. There’s no way she could have thought that was okay. I don’t know how much my wife tipped, but if it was my call, I would have had a conversation with the manager explaining why my usual MINIMUM 25% was not being given to that waiter. We traveled over 200 miles to enjoy some getaway and have dinner with friends, and this is the result. I’ll be treating my wife to another steak dinner this week at Red Flame Steak & Grill and I promise we won’t receive the same lack of service and consideration as we did last night.
I will say, the Cajun Ribeye steak and smoked mac and cheese were good. Although they placed my wife’s broccoli on my plate when they brought our food back out (her food was cold too), we were satisfied with the flavors. Again — service is the most important aspect of the dining experience.

Our server, JoJo, was absolutely wonderful—so nice and attentive, and she made us feel truly welcomed. She kept our drinks filled and went out of her way to make my son’s birthday special. The food was excellent as well—the steak was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the fried mozzarella and smoked mac & cheese were amazing. We had a great experience!

Easily among one of my top 5 most favorite restaurants here in Texas, and has become a Christmas tradition due to the delicious food and it’s STRONG mountain feel to it. I love it! The fireplace and candle lanterns mixed with the stove structure is one of the best visual esthetics I’ve ever seen. If only we got some snow falling and the image of this restaurant is Perfect!

The chicken tenders and fries are great. The service is both top notch & friendly. And even their dishes are well designed, which I truly do hope they can offer in the future cause I really like the design of their heavy ceramic plates. If they sold them then I would definitely buy them.

Highly recommended to anyone who likes good quality restaurants, and to the people who served me and my folks earlier today, have yourselves a very Merry Christmas! ^-^

Our server Kaila was wonderful—so kind, attentive, and welcoming. She really knew the menu well and made sure our drinks were always refilled. The food was, as always, delicious. The Frozen Crown & Coke was also great!
My favorite dish is the baby back ribs, and my husband loves the filet.
