Thai style papaya salad paired well with the Laos sausage and beef. The soup had a lot of vegetables. You won’t feel bloated nor guilty after eating all this food. I could imagine eating this again in a hot summer day. Gives you that fresh and cooling feeling while eating.

Spicy Lao Kitchen has the most unique lao sausages ever! even in the country of Laos itself! there is a mild and spicy option; we only had the spicy version which are perfectly seasoned and with enough heat to be enjoyable. the surprise is the vermicelli noodles inside the sausage which surprisingly works in every way possible. the accompanying jeow mak len is equally spicy and does not dial down the flavor like other places. the portions are huge considering the prices – 8 sausages for $13 is unheard of in all of southern california. will need to come back to try the nam khao. they also have a location in vegas!

This place is really good! Loved the fat little spicy sausages, the Lao salad, the crying tiger beef, the Mok fish and the heavenly jerky. So flavorful, warmly spicy but with lots of lemongrass and herbal flavors. Not a fancy place, but you can definitely feel the love.

Went there for the pork belly, came back for the pork belly and tried other incredibly delicious items.
I’ve called several places for crispy pork belly but nobody has it in the Clairemont Mesa area. This place did. I just ordered crispy pork belly off the appetizer menu with sticky rice for breakfast (about 1pm).
I’ve never had pork belly this way. This was thin cut and crispy. Not as much chew as the traditional version but man the flavor was outstanding. It’s also paired with an outstanding very flavorful sauce. The dish was so satisfying I decided to have it again for dinner.
Went back and ordered the pork belly but also pork fried rice and a fresh made beef jerky dish. Again, the pork belly was hitting, but omg, the other dishes was so flavorful and delicious. The jerky also came with its own sauce that was just as good as the sauce that came with the pork belly.
Place is basically new at just 2 years open. I found me a hidden gem in this area. Will hit this spot up anytime I’m out here. I’ll be willing to make the hour drive just for the food itself.

Parking: Plenty of parking in plaza
Atmosphere: fast pace indoor outdoor dining
Service: Welcoming family business environment. Our server thoroughly offered great recommendations.
Food:
Spicy Lao Sausage: Very tasty. They are a must try when visiting.
Pad sei: very flavorful and filling
Lao Pho: It was my first time trying this and unfortunately it was not comparable to the Vietnamese pho.
Supports Military: No Discount yet…
Overall: I dine around that area pretty frequently and was excited to finally see that this place has open its doors. It did not disappoint. I would definitely return and try other items on their menu.

Went for a quick bite on a whim and I’m glad I did. Had the Tuna Larb (Laab) and it was phenomenal and fresh. Flavor combo was a hit, really balanced between the mint and spices. This is perfect if you’re looking for a low key spot that’s true to its heritage. 11/10 will be back to have the dish the customer next to me was raving about

Family run Laotian restaurant with very friendly staff and some unique dishes among. They also have packs of pork rinds, their own instant noodles, and other specialty items for sale.
The boat noodles we got had two kinds of beef, one of which a little dry. Unfortunately the soup was a bit salty, and despite the ingredients, the flavor was a little one dimensional. Maybe it’s because they did not put in the usual pork blood found in typical Thai restaurants. The Lao pho had the better kind of beef in the boat noodles.

I love this place. There are not many Lao restaurants in San Diego and I’m glad I found this location near my college night class. I come here for dinner every other week now after class for almost 2 months now and I’m working my way through the entire menu. Place is really clean and comfortable, employees are amazing polite and fun to talk to. I get a meal and drunk and then a couple JL beef Jerry’s with so many great flavors and spice and fried chicken skins for later at home. Spicy Lao Kitchen has a customer for life.

Hands down the best authentic Lao food I’ve tried! Tastes just like homemade! My family’s go to order is always the tom yum chicken with extra tom yum powder, papaya salad Lao style w/ sticky rice and khao piak sen. honestly the best fried chicken we’ve ever tasted! Don’t get us started on their mango sticky rice for dessert either the absolute best! Now that we found our favorite Lao restaurant we are now regulars! Definitely worth our 30 minute commute ❤️ if you haven’t tried it you are missing out!
