Stubbled across Thaikhun. First impression was WOW loving the decor and ambience definitely giving Vibes of Thailand !!
Staff were friendly, polite and attentive. We were absolutely starving after 2hrs + drive we ordered chicken pad, street food noodles, Thai fish cake, veg Gyoza and both finishing off with the classic Mango with sticky rice pudding.
All overall we both enjoyed our meals.
Faye and our wonderful chef were brilliant, lots of information and atmosphere, they went at our pace and took time to help us out, give tips and explain. We had a laugh and the food was brilliant, felt so good to cook something so authentic and eat it there. We made chicken and prawn dumplings and Massaman curry – we got some prawn crackers included and any drink off the menu, plus our leftovers to takeaway. They were so accommodating from the very start, being greeted with a complimentary tea/ juice, all the way till the end. Will also be back just to have a yummy bite to eat. Thank you Thaikhun! <3
The food arrived in about 20 minutes, which was reasonable, but during that entire wait no drinks were brought to the table. We only received them after repeatedly reminding the waiter. The food itself was average — nothing special, but fine.
What really ruined the evening was the service at the end. While we still had more than half our drinks left, the bill was brought without asking. I paid, only to realize I had been overcharged because our bill was mixed up with another table. Although a refund was given, when I asked for a corrected receipt for my records, the waiter came back with the card machine and asked me to pay again.
This left me shocked and very uncomfortable. Sadly, after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning
They had a fantastic range of plant-based options, so we were well catered for and spoilt for choice. We went for the pinto menu for two, an easy option, where you can choose a curry type, a stir fry, a special noodle option and a choice of rice, to share. The food was amazing! Absolutely delicious, and plenty of it. The green curry was creamy, spicy and warming. The yummy cashew stir fry was tangy, in a chilli sweet and sour sauce, with veggies and soft tofu cubes. The Pad Thai was moreish, with peanuts and lime on top, and there was loads of fragrant Jasmine rice to soak up the lovely sauces. What a fabulous Thai feast, for under twenty quid a head!
The place was really interesting, the food amazing and the service was great… we will definitely be back.
The portion is decent for the price I would say.
Flavour, somewhat controversial. I found Tom Yum is mainly sour and Pad Thai is salty-sweet from powerful sauces, but we enjoyed a good meal combining them.
The service here is so niceee. We struggled to get our water at first, but the staff took really good care of us and brought spare dishes for us to share afterwards.
The only concern is the location?? Cause every seat will get too much sun if it’s sunny, good for pics but not for dining experience.
I would suggest blinders, cause I noticed 2 customers left just because of this.
