Good food, chill vibe, dark more intimate climate. Fast service with no time to leave pressure, so you can enjoy conversation after your meal. FYI for any sit-down restaurant and how you get great service: Just be mindful of your servers time. If the restaurant is busy and If you are not wanting to pay the server more than your 15% tip (with helpful service) then do not stay longer than 15 mins after plate removal at any restaurant. Those servers are there to provide for their families, just like you are when you go to work. If you want to stay by all means, just what ever tip you are leaving add that much each hour you stay. Ex: Tip is $20 at 15%; stay 3 hours; tip total of at least $50. They could have filled that table at least 2 more times, and gotten those tips. So you are paying for it instead, think of it as you are renting the table if you are not eating. Let the server know you respect their time by saying something like, “keep my drinks full and I’ll tip you for my additional time here.” To recap: Be respectful of their time as much as you expect them to be respectful of yours.

So… I’ve been eating at Chelino’s since way back when. The goods: although not that great complimentary queso, salsa, relish, tortillas not fresh made, real butter packets, and some of the best sopapillas; sour cream sauce and ranchera (cilantro sauce the og’s call it); shredded beef; probably the best refried beans ( can actually taste real lard ) and rice.
The bad: these booths and tables might be from when they first opened; Chelino is not concerned about the appearance or climate as the AC system just can’t keep up

We love Chelinos but I now know not to order tacos…they were soggy..not crispy..all the filling fell out. The Guido Especial was excellent as was the shrimp cocktail. Service was great!

I had this marked on my map but I couldn’t remember why. So when I was driving through OKC and saw it on my route, I went ahead and stopped by.
I had the Bandera enchilada plate with charro and chino beans. The enchiladas were great, flavorful and distinct. The charro beans were OK and the chino beans were interesting…I felt like they might need just a little something more.
I asked for a spicier salsa when they brought the chips and salsa so they brought me a green salsa that was wonderful.
Service was OK, the building itself felt rather dated but overall I enjoyed my meal.

Food and drinks were so good. Salsa was debatable but I like a little spice so had to upgrade to the habanero any way and that was soo worth it! That was my preference. Service was great as well. Had the light portion street tacos, I prefered the flour over the corn. Wish they had home made tortillas..that would put this place at a 10..lol I like the fact that my food was not greasy, fresh, and just great overall. This place is definitely overlooked. I asked the cook to come to the table he didn’t even speak english. That’s when I realized that’s why my dinner was soooo damn good!! Great food and service! Thanks Chelinos staff!

Good food. Delicious salsa. Cheese dip is also provided. One person in our party ordered the cheeseburger and said it was delicious. But, that person asked for mayonnaise on his cheeseburger but the server said they didn’t have it. We were told they only had ketsup and ” mayo”. Kind of cute.

Went in was assured it was good got take out. Into most things before I’m home… It didn’t just get cold. Quesabirria is supposed to be crunchy, or at least not literally puddle of saturated corn pudding, they are to be dipped into the birria…. which probably shouldn’t have what appears to be tripe in it. Tried about half of one anyway using a spoon and it’s… and yeah that’s not edible, food or even built by someone who has ever eaten. It’s corn pudding. My asada fries were at no point hot, some aren’t cooked and again is just slop in a tray. I had opened both of these items as they were mine no more than 2 minutes after I was given it, in my car. I just spent 75 bucks and tipped 10 BEFORE they made my food. Don’t eat here. oh the chips are ok.

Restaurant was inviting and authentic in presentation. Food portions were large, more than you can eat. We grew up in Texas and are used to Tex Mex. The food was better than most other restaurants like this in Oklahoma but I still miss my Tex Mex from Texas. Customer service was wonderful.
