Instead of a traditional buffet, diners order via tablets directly from their tables, selecting from a wide range of dishes including sushi, grilled items, and various Asian specialties.
This system allows for up to eight ordering rounds, with a maximum of 10 dishes per round, ensuring that food is freshly prepared and promptly served.
Patrons have praised the quality and taste of the food, noting the efficiency of the tablet-based ordering system. The ambiance is described as pleasant, and the staff generally friendly and accommodating.
However, some guests have raised concerns. The pricing, especially during weekends, is considered by some to be on the higher side. Sushi variety is also very limited for such a high cost. And the hot sake, for example, barely allows for 1.5 “shots” in the small container provided and half filled.
Additionally, while the tablet system is convenient, first-time users might find it a bit confusing without proper guidance. It’s also important to be mindful of food waste; some establishments implement charges for excessive leftovers to discourage wastage.
For a positive experience at Akoya, consider visiting on weekdays when it’s less crowded and prices might be more favorable.
Familiarize yourself with the tablet ordering system to make the most of the diverse menu.
Be cautious with portion sizes to avoid unnecessary leftovers, and if you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to ask the staff.
From the start, the staff addressed us informally as “classmates” in Chinese, without any polite greeting or standard customer service tone. It felt dismissive and overly familiar, as if we weren’t guests but simply people they could speak to however they liked.
The restaurant uses automated robots to deliver food, and since it’s a buffet with many small dishes, I would sometimes place my empty plates on the robot trays to help clear the table. The staff rarely came around to collect plates, so this felt like a reasonable and considerate thing to do. However, after initially offering a polite correction, the servers soon became visibly impatient with the speed at which I confirmed the delivery—repeatedly expressing dissatisfaction in a blunt and critical tone, as if I were disrupting the restaurant’s operations.
While the food itself was fine, the service made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Being spoken to in such an impatient and dismissive way, especially by someone who shares our cultural background, was disappointing. Every guest deserves to be treated with the same level of respect and professionalism, regardless of ethnicity or perceived familiarity.
Ordering with the iPads also made it really easy, you didn’t even have to stand up from your table. (Of course you also didn’t get to see what you’re getting before it arrives at your table, the pictures on the tablet are very small and don’t depict the item too accurately and portion sizes were also a real guessing game)
The service was great, less than ten minutes after we ordered our first round they already brought stuff out, there waiters were constantly passing by and taking our empty dishes with them and bringing new ones. The food also tasted yummy, typical Chinese buffet.
In the end we were only able to order 3/8 rounds and didn’t even order the allowed number of 10 dishes per round.
I was very disappointed however, that they didn’t offer baked bananas (or baked pineapple) as a dessert. They only had sesame balls, a fried pumpkin cake, various other cakes (Bienenstich, chocolate etc.), fruit and ice cream for dessert.
The food is good and it arrives very quickly, in theory you’re allowed to order a lot but it is way too expensive for me. They could make it 5€-10€ cheaper p.P. and would still be making more than enough profit and I would come here way more often.

Deserves a change, I recommend the experience.Oi
