Astro Burger in South Salt Lake served me a cheeseburger so powerful it triggered an immediate flavor aneurysm right behind my eyeballs.
One bite in and my taste buds filed a formal resignation letter because they had clearly peaked.
I’m pretty sure the ER doctor wrote “cheddar overload” on my chart while nodding respectfully at my life choices.
Juicy patty, melty cheese, and a bun that knew exactly what it signed up for, this thing was built like a flavor weapon.
Was it medically irresponsible to finish the whole burger after discharge? Absolutely.
Would I do it again without hesitation, IV drip and all? One thousand percent.

Found this gem by accident!
I was getting my daughter’s windshield replaced just a couple of doors down when the tech there recommended this spot—and I’m so glad they did.
This is an old-fashioned, no-frills kind of restaurant, but don’t let that fool you. It’s clean, well-lit, and clearly well taken care of. The staff is warm and welcoming, and when I asked for a recommendation, they didn’t disappoint.
The steak sandwich was on point—crispy lettuce, perfectly cooked steak, and all the right flavors. Sometimes it’s these unexpected stops that turn out to be the most memorable. I’ll definitely be sharing this off-the-path gem with others!

Came here with family and got the astro burger, my gf got the double bacon (she couldn’t eat it all) and her parents got gluten free buns with the chili burger. Not only were the fries good, they were wonderful with their plentiful sized cup of THICK ranch and the burgers were great too. The whole place was very clean especially compared to not only other asto locations but also other eateries on state street. I for sure expected the normal crumbs in the corner or something but i was delightfully surprised that none of that was going on. The burgers can be a lot of food so come hungry and their menu is huge which made it a bit hard to choose what to eat. This place is well worth coming to check out. I can say its slower on Thursday nights around 6 than i expected but that was a huge plus too.

The cheeseburger was excellent and filling, and the onion rings were some of the best I’ve had! I love that the onions were fully cooked but still had a slight crunch to them. Just amazing! Looking forward to coming back!

Love the atmosphere here. It feels old school.. they don’t have loud annoying music playing.. it’s more laid back and the staff is amazing. The ladies are all so nice, friendly, and the food comes out really fast . Love to come here in the mornings.. the ladies already had my coffee ready for me right as i walked through the door as after only a few times of being here they had memorized my likes.. amazing customer service Daisy is one of my favorite employees here.. genuine friendly.. thanks Astro Burger.

DON’T RECOMMEND FOR GLUTEN FREE. We used the drive thru. We could barely hear the employee and they could barely hear us. They did not have gf chicken tenders. When we asked if they had gf fries the answer was “yes, but we don’t use a dedicated fryer.” We didn’t ask about the burgers/buns.

This place was pleasantly surprising. Incredibly clean and very pretty inside. The cook on staff seemed to understand gluten intolerance/celiac disease and how careful one must be very well. He came up to the front to talk to me and make sure the order was right and I wouldn’t get sick. I really appreciate this effort and the respectful regard for my health that most dining establishments lack. They had a nice patio an employee encouraged the kids hanging out in the head out front to enjoy shade on the patio. The food was made with care and was delicious. More gluten free options are always worth celebrating.

Their gyros are made with precooked meat, and they are so small that I left there still hungry but spent 11.00 on one chinsy gyro. At other places like Greek Slovaki I can’t even eat the whole sandwich. Plus they’ve upped their prices so high. Like double. It used to be like 3.50 for combo and now it’s 6 more dollars. Rediculous!!! And the gyro wasn’t even that good cause of the precooked meat. Won’t be back there so they can’t rip me off again!

The girl who took our order didn’t know the difference between chicken fingers or chicken strips. The lettuce on the burger was slimy. We asked for extra lettuce for the gyro. They gave it to us open on styrofoam plate and it was discolored and slimy. The meat was not fresh cut gyro meat. It was dark and hard around the edges.
Not what you would expect from a place that has been in business for over 40 years.
It was over $48 for 3 of us. We could have had table service elsewhere for that price.
Will not eat here again.
