I had high expectations from watching a reels video so I brought my friends last night (late Feb). What’s good: location, plenty of parking space, and service. For the food part, the boiled crawfish was not impressive at all. We ordered 5 pounds. Besides the sizes were tiny which we understand that it’s still kind of early in the season, there were at least 20 dead crawfish all with gross black dirt and rotten juices. That made us think the rotten juices ruined the whole boil. It’s perfectly ok if we cross a couple but a couple dozens were too much in two buckets. The corns and potatoes were flavorless bc they’re not boiled with the crawfish. The shrimp gumbo came with the Po-Boy had unpleasant smells from the shrimp. The gumbo shrimps were squishy and stinky. There was a 30-min line at 7pm, and we thought they could do a better job.

Dropped in for lunch. Wife had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo, which she described as tasty. I had the Shrimp Brochette and the Seafood Gumbo. The Shrimp Brochette was unremarkable, but the remoulade really made the dish.

Let’s talk about the gumbo. We’ll, if you want to call it that. It was way overcooked. The veggies, that could be recognized, were so overcooked that thet turned to mush in the mouth and were flavorless. There was heat as an aftertaste, as if seeking validation through being spicy. I really could not finish this as it was simply unpalatable. Oh, and no okra. Hello!!!

I simply would not recommend this place and a three is being very generous. I won’t be back.

Raging Cajun was a surprise stop in Houston for me. I usually don’t eat Cajun food outside of Louisiana….I would go back to Ragin Cajun.
We had shrimp po boys, bread pudding and cheese cake. Everything was good.
The building has plenty of tables to serve the lunch and dinner rush.

Went here for lunch after a few appts at the VA this morning. Was great. I had the Louisiana crawfish tail platter and I don’t know if or how long it will take me to get used to the taste again as I’ve haven’t had something similar to shrimp in years and I used to eat shrimp all the time. Anyway, as I said the food was great but I wish there was more than four hushpuppies. They were gone fast.

Thanks again!

I had an unreal meal at Ragin’ Cajun on Richmond Avenue in Houston (4302 Richmond Ave). Walking into “the shack” I wasn’t sure what to expect but the food absolutely blew my mind. From their blackened catfish to the crunchy po’‑boys, each dish was packed with flavor and cooked just right.

One of the biggest surprises was their wine selection. Never thought I’d pair a Pinot Grigio with some serious Cajun spice, but it worked. Definitely not your average joint when it comes to drinks.

Ambience is casual, warm, and fun. The walls are covered in character — the kind you see in true Louisiana-style spots. There’s character, great Southern vibes, and a menu that makes you want to try everything (and yes I almost did).

If you’re in Houston and craving Cajun/Creole, fresh seafood, or just somewhere with soul and flavor, this is the place to go. I’ll be back for sure.

I live down the street from here and since I’ve tried it I’ve been kicking myself for not coming here sooner! I don’t think you’ll find better crawfish, especially at this price, in all of Houston. The people are always friendly and we love sitting at bar here (it’s LA Bar, the two are connected though). Their happy hour is pretty incredible as well, I’ve never had such huge oysters anywhere that still have this much flavor. I could rave about this place all day honestly, but please come and try it for yourself!

The crawfish was so good! Seasoned to perfection! Just like they do in Louisiana! Great HH for the oysters & drinks. They have delicious gumbo, etouffee in a laid back setting. We will definitely be back!

We had a great meal this evening coupled with great service! The grilled oysters were fresh and delicious! Their Caesar salad is the best in Houston hands down and no complaints about the Bloody Mary. Pay them a visit. It’s worth your time.
