We made the hour drive from Austin to Old 300 BBQ in Blanco this Saturday, and it was absolutely worth it.

I ordered the Saturday special — three mega beef ribs for $52 — along with a half pound of Wagyu brisket ($22). We also added chopped barbecue, two pork spare ribs, and a loaded baked potato. For a family of five (two adults, a six-year-old, and a four-year-old — and I’m a pretty big eater), our total came out to about $130.

Honestly, I couldn’t believe the value. The quantity of food we received felt comparable to what would easily cost $300 at places like Terry Black’s in Austin — especially when it came to those massive beef ribs. Even knowing they were on special, it still felt like an incredible deal.

But value aside, the quality is what really stood out. This was some of the best barbecue I’ve had anywhere in Texas. The beef ribs were absolutely mind-melting — rich, perfectly smoked, tender, and packed with flavor. The brisket was outstanding, and everything we ordered hit the mark.

The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, helpful with recommendations, and the food came out promptly. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant — perfect for a family meal.

The portions were so generous that we’ll easily get two or three more meals out of the leftovers. For $130, the amount and quality of food we walked away with was unbelievable.

We’ll definitely be back. Old 300 BBQ is well worth the drive.

Great BBQ spot! Reasonable pricing and good quality meats. Also a small score- they had corn dogs for their kids meal (which our son loves). Great atmosphere !

Old 300 BBQ is a true Texas gem. From the moment we walked in, the service was phenomenal. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming in that classic Texas way.

We had the brisket with coleslaw, pickled onions, and pickles, and everything was spot on. The brisket was tender and full of flavor, and the sides added the perfect balance. The pickled onions especially gave it that bright little kick.

The BBQ sauce selection sealed it for me. The sweet sauce was my favorite. Rich, balanced, and exactly what I want on Texas brisket. The spicy had more of a vinegar forward bite, which some will love if you prefer that sharper tang.

And do not miss the Settlers Wall. It is such a cool touch that adds to the authentic old school Texas atmosphere.

Great food, great people, great experience. We will absolutely be back.

Great Mac-n-cheese. My pulled pork sandwich was good. Everyone like the beans, ribs and brisket. Nice inside seating with additional seating outside.

This has got to be one of the best BBQ joints I’ve been to. The sides, meh, but the meat is to die for. I find myself craving it and I visited about 3 weeks ago lol luckily it is only about 45 minutes away from San Antonio. You know the brisket is made right when it falls apart in your hands and the turkey is insanely juicy. Bravo!
Do yourself a favor and hit up this spot!!!!

I’ve followed them on Facebook for a while. People have rated them high. It’s worth the rating. The Angus brisket sandwich was tender and the Mac and cheese was, to me, just okay.

TEXAS FRIENDLY SPOKEN HERE. This is a fine BBQ restaurant where the food is expertly prepared and is reasonably priced. We got a 1/2 chicken, chopped BBQ sandwich, a side of beans to share, 6 devil eggs halves, and two drinks for about $45. It was enough food to take some back to our camp site. The owners prominently display the names of the Austin Colony’soriginall 300 families. Among them is the man for whom our hometown of Burnet was named. (He was the first provisional president of Texas during the revolution. No doubt he would have been put to Santa Anna’s sword if the revolt had failed.) The place also has an event hall/dance floor that features live music a couple times a month.
