Hands down, this is the best Plaza Azteca location and my absolute favorite. Worth every minute of the drive.
I live in Hickory, Chesapeake, and the Plaza Azteca location in Western Branch is not the closest one for sure, but THE MOST FAVOURITE!
I’m usually busy and don’t like waiting — and here, I never do. The place is always busy, but it’s so spacious and well-laid out that there’s always room, with plenty of space between large, comfortable tables.
The staff is very friendly, professional, and actually attentive. They listen — if you ask for no onions , you won’t get onions.
The service is also the FASTEST I’ve experienced!
Food comes out quickly, always fresh, hot, and delicious!
Consistently high standards, great atmosphere, and excellent food. Highly recommending! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve always been a fan of Mexican food and rarely have had issues at most Mexican restaurants.
Unfortunately I can’t say that this time. With 2 adults and 2 kiddos we needed a few extra moments to figure out what the wee ones were hungry for. I felt rushed to order and didn’t get a true look at the menu. As far as what I did get it was tasty and everyone enjoyed their food.
Another thing was the music was a bit loud which made having a conversation difficult.

Coming from the west coast it’s really hard to find good Mexican food. After stumbling upon this place it is now my favorite spot for Mexican in the area. The prices aren’t bad and the food is great!

Food was great and our waitress was wonderful as well the only downside was when my husband and I came in there we’re two ladies at the front that did not greet us at all one of them just took the menus and seated us and did not say a word it really made me felt some type of way because first impression is everything. My husband and I will return due to the food being amazing and our waitress, hopefully next time will be better when it comes to greeting customers when coming in.

While traveling late at night, we were happy to see that Plaza Azteca was still open, so we decided to stop by for dinner. We already knew the restaurant from their location in Newport News, and since we’ve always had great experiences there, we thought it would be a safe and delicious choice and it definitely was! The restaurant had plenty of available seating, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming despite the late hour. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in. The staff was friendly, quick to take our order, and attentive throughout the meal, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was just as incredible as what we’ve come to expect from Plaza Azteca. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. You can really tell they take pride in keeping the same high quality across their different locations. Overall, it was a great experience a perfect stop during our night trip. It’s always nice when you can count on a restaurant chain to deliver consistent, delicious food and excellent service no matter where you go. We’ll definitely be coming back to this location again!

The Food was excellent. The drinks were phenomenal and you only need one. The service wss impeccable and the overall atmosphere was sublime. If you like or want to try Mexican food I highly recommend Plaza Azteca!

This place is seriously the best! We eat here weekly and they make us feel like part of the family. Brooke always is a delight to be around and her special bar napkins are the cutest. The staff is great always checking in on us and light chat after long work days. We will always be forever grateful for this little slice of heaven!

Cons: TERRIBLE service. Had to seek a seater while only 2 other booths were taken during lunch. Also had to seek waiter for the bill. Waiter was very abrasive. Not rude, but definitely not friendly.
Food was below mediocre, but above horrible.
Poor service is the biggest reason we will not return.

It was 2 of us in my party. It took them 15 minutes to bring us water and chips. Once the food came out it was cold, like it had been sitting there waiting for a while. Our server seemed like he was in a rush and couldn’t be bothered. Another server checked on us after we got the food and I told her the food was cold. She offered to have it reheated. But we all know what happens when you return food to the kitchen. When we got our bill, we were not given a receipt, the server gave us an amount and said cash or card… Not a pleasant experience at all. Will not return to this location and would jot recommend spending good money here!!!!!
