Gave this Columbia classic a try on Saturday. Had the Philly Steak sandwich and it was the best I have had. It was delicious, fresh and hot! The steak was very tender. The staff were all very friendly. You walk in the door and order, pay and find a seat. They bring to food out to you. We will be back!

First time at G&D Steakhouse and it was a great experience. My friends love the way they prepare their steaks, and after seeing those plates come out, I understand why. I went with the Philly cheesesteak and it was amazing — flavorful, cooked right, and hit the spot. Good atmosphere and solid service. Definitely would go back.

First time here on a Friday evening. Immediately seated, no line but it was busy. Different atmosphere, very good service! We kind of knew what to expect from other reviews. It’s a bit different than what you might expect. As you walk in there’s a stack of cafeteria trays to your left. You order, pick up your flatware, salad, and drink then pay at the counter and find a booth or table. I had the G&D Steak Special which is an 8 ounce sirloin with a baked potato, salad, and Texas toast. The medium rare steak was cooked to PERFECTION! One of the best I’ve had in a while. However, odd, it wasn’t seasoned at all so I used table salt and pepper. My wife had a gyro which she said was excellent. The prices were less than what we expected (always a plus)! The atmosphere was interesting. It’s just a sparcely decorated little joint, very subdued, as we like it. The service was great! The wait staff checked on us multiple times and were super. You can tell they enjoy working there and have good management. Overall, a good experience except not realizing there’s no seasoning on the steak (maybe that’s how they do it)? Definitely will be back for another sirloin though (and I’ll ask for seasoning).

Outstanding steaks. Somewhat of a hole in the wall restaurant. Wonderful service and friendly atmosphere. Many, many regular customers. This place is nothing special on the inside but just a good place to eat. Lots of desserts. Cakes and pies.

Very cool place with a great value for the food. The ordering and seating format is a bit different from a typical steakhouse, but still had great service. The steak cook was on point (excellent medium rare), and everyone’s meal was great. Will definitely be back when in Columbia

When you enter your grab your silverware and view a menu that’s not he wall and windows. The vibe fast pace and loud. The staff was kind and attentive. We ordered the ravioli and the marinara sauce was meaty and delicious. We also ordered the philly cheese steak, the meat was good but the cheese was low quality sliced cheese similar to generic cheese product type cheese but the roll was toasted perfectly and good quality. We also ordered gyro, dry and tough, the peta was decent quality, tomorrow and onion was fresh and the tezeki sauce was perfect.

Moved my Freshman son into Mizzou today, and took him to one of my favorite spots. G&D may cost more than it did when I was running around CoMo from 96-99 but they steal make a mean steak. Thanks to the staff for a great nostalgic meal.
