Was listening to WDET, and heard guests mention this place. Called in a carry-out of The Forager minus the Gouda to test it for myself. The service was excellent, pleasant staff all around. The spot is clean, cozy, and welcoming. It’s definitely a Ferndale vibe. When I picked the order up, I learned It included house potatoes, and was given mixed fruit jam for my rye toast. I added my own herbal blend to it when I got home, it made the oyster mushrooms pop even more. Good stuff. Next time, I’ll dine- in.

Haven’t eaten here in years, we just don’t get out this way often but the food is as good as when we heard about it from DDD. I got the Paddywagon, wife got the hamburger. All around great food, great staff. Highly recommend you try here at least once. Oh and they have cocktails too.

Our table ordered the chicken fried rice, the forager with sourdough toast, and the salmon burger with fries. My boyfriend said the salmon burger was a 5/5 and he really enjoyed it! My friend said the forager exceeded his expectations and was really nicely cooked. He also got a fresh brewed iced tea and really liked it. The coffee was also solid. I liked the chicken fried rice, but others at my table were less impressed by it. It has a vinegar taste and is a bit soggy and spicy (I really liked it though). Friendly service! Variety of items on the menu, too. Everything together was about $55. Glad we stopped by.

Went to have lunch with a friend of mine. We walked in from the front door and the waitress advised us to go to the back to get in line. This was our first time and we didn’t notice the sign that was put up and the long rolled paper that was hanging from the wall where we were supposed to write our name and how big the part was. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get much guidance on that. By the time we figured it out, a couple parties had gone ahead of us. The food was good. I got the omelette with bacon, cheese and avocado (might have had some other ingredients but I don’t remember exactly what). It came with an order of sort of like roasted potatoes. The omelet was good however the potatoes were all dark on the outside but uncooked and crunchy in the inside so that was a bit of a turnoff. They had sourdough as a choice of toast. It was okay, but I think they used oil on the bread and not butter as I didn’t taste butter. The restaurant was a little loud, just something to keep in mind. The waitress we had was nice. In my opinion, it was a little overpriced especially given part of the meal was not cooked properly…

Been wanting to try The Fly Trap for a long time but never get to Ferndale during the day. Until today. We got there around 12:30 and the place was hopping. Had the feeling most were regulars. I ordered the omelet with sour dough toast and my wife ordered the granola/yogurt with a bunch of other ingredients. My omelet was cooked perfectly and potatoes were delicious and piping hot as they should be. Toast often seems to arrive cold at restaurants but not here! Oh, and that house made apple/mango jam was the bomb. My wife is still taking about her lunch and can’t wait to go back. Our waitress was super friendly and provided excellent service. Never had to ask for a coffee refill….she was right on it. Everything at surrounding tables looked great. Will try the breakfast burrito next visit. This place is really solid.

We randomly stopped in for breakfast and I was blown away. The staff were so nice and so knowledgeable about food allergies, they made me feel so comfortable there!
The food was excellent and I even bought some of the raspberry lemon jam to take home – 10/10!

Love sitting at the bar here for breakfast. The green eggs & ham and the forager mushroom scramble are my favorite.

By far the best diner in the Metro area. They always have weekly specials that are creative and delicious. Even when busy, the quality is always the same… the chef is gifted. It’s just next level, every time.

Came here for brunch and was not disappointed. Had the Moroccan chicken sandwich and the meat was so succulent it was incredible. Also had the mini muffin of the day and was also very tasty. It’s a lively joint and gets quite busy on the weekend.

The Fly Trap was soooo yummy I got the green eggs and ham, a small oj and a coffee and it was all great. The standouts were not what I ordered but 1. the phenomenal blueberry chai jam 2. the great hot sauces 3. the wonderful server Jessy who provided us good attention, checking in on us the right amount and was so friendly while serving us. I will be recommending The Fly Trap to anyone I know visiting detroit.
