A Great Valentine’s Day Find at GrillSmith
We happened to find GrillSmith while passing through Lakeland on Valentine’s Day, and even without a reservation we were happy to grab two seats at the bar. Our server, Ryan, was fantastic — incredibly helpful with both the signature drinks and the food selections.
Ryan made me an excellent Manhattan using real Italian vermouth and Filthy cherries. My wife had a chocolate martini that she loved. The ahi tuna appetizer was a generous portion, served over guacamole, which was a great surprise.
For dinner, I went with the pork chop cooked medium‑rare+, and it was spot‑on. They were also offering a Valentine’s Day sea bass special, which my wife ordered. The portion was very generous and the quality was outstanding — I’d highly recommend this special if you ever visit when it’s available.
We finished with their Bananas Foster dessert, featuring a warm banana‑caramel pour‑over sauce. It did not disappoint.
Overall, the service was great, the ambiance was really nice, and the food was excellent. I would definitely dine at GrillSmith again the next time I’m passing through Lakeland.

We met here for a meeting and had a wonderful time! Our server was very attentive and professional, making sure we had everything we needed. Everyone ordered something different, and each dish came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The chicken wings were fantastic, one order have 10. The salmon was delicious. They also have a great happy hour from 4–7 daily perfect for relaxing after work or meeting with friends or family. The only thing I would add is celery sticks to the chicken wings plate to bring more color and crunchiness. I do like the celery sticks so I would eat them. Also lemon or lime to the glasses of water and to the sweet teas.

I took my wife there for her Veteran dinner on veterans day. She had been looking forward to going there for weeks. The weather was perfect. It was very busy but we got seating outside.
The food was excellent. I am a steak man. But when we go out I usually try and get something my wife wants that she isn’t ordering and she got the free steak for her veterans day meal. So I got tuna. That tuna was so good. So many flavors and textures. Needless to say she ate like half of it hahaha.
The drinks and service also very prime. I’ve been to Grill smoth a few times before and if I want a really good dinner I don’t have complaints on. Especially a steak. This is the spot. It’s worth it.

So I stopped by this restaurant because I wanted to try a new place. Initially things were going well. My server was Daniel. I ordered the Maryland Blue Crab cakes minus the remoulade sauce & a side of jalapeño mac & cheese. So when my food came out, someone decided to substitute the remoulade sauce with tartar sauce (which is not listed anywhere on their menu in-store or online.) I don’t like tartar sauce either. I was only able to eat about one and a half of the crab cakes, which weren’t bad, because the rest was in tartar sauce. In my experience, I’ve never seen a crab cake served with tartar sauce unless expressedly asked. I mentioned it to Daniel and he shrugged it off and kept doing what he was doing. He didn’t offer any remedy for the situation. The Mac & cheese was underwhelming. I had to add salt and pepper to be able to eat it. I mentioned my ordeal to the hostess as I left, she said she’d speak to the manager regarding the manner. Just based off of that experience I won’t be returning.

Usually I enjoy any kind of seafood here, but the pasta options are good too. If you like pretzels try out the bavarian pretty appetizer, which is great for sharing.
Sometimes the service can be hit or miss here which would probably be my only complaint. Grillsmith can be a great place to come for a work lunch or just a fun dinner. You can just walk in but I’d check about a reservation as it can get pretty busy especially in the evenings.

My Family and I visited Grillsmith and had the pleasure of being served by Jeremy. Jeremy was attentive and well versed on the menu and fantastic with recommendations. The food was incredible and was quick to arrive despite a full restaurant on a Tuesday evening. My kids rarely finish meals but both kiddos cleared their plates with no complaints (mom win!) My husband loves his steak (as do i) and hands down give this restaurant the best in lakeland n dare I say polk county? They blew every other steak place out of the water. We have our new favorite dinner date spot and cant wait to return!

I went with some friends that had been here quite a few times previously. It was my first time. The egg rolls were exceptional as our starter. A round of Mojitos and the chicken pasta dish were delicious.
