Lord have mercy folks. When I tell yall this place is off the chain, believe me. From the time I arrived I met the owner Mr. Steve Zarda & he greeted me and treated me like a life-long friend of his. That alone made my day as a Trucker bcuz sometimes we get treated like dirt out here. We talked outside as I was about to come in & he started walking with me as I told him I was from Big D Dallas and I was stopping by to check this place out. Not knowing i was walking & talking with the owner of Zarda the whole time. He allowed me to tell him how I was sitting n my big truck checking out the reviews of this place & the reviews were great. He kindly smiled and said, Hi, my name is Steve Zarda and I’m the owner. I was blown away folks bcuz he was outside washing the pad around the drive thru & the back door. Now I’m really, really impressed with him as a man & his work ethics as mine. Well we proceeded inside & it was very, very clean, nicely decorated, a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere to be in. Mr. Zarda introduced me to his entire staff which were some of the nicest, coolest, professional young people I’ve seen n a long time on a job folks. Nobody was texting & half ignoring me as a customer. They were all so nice, knowledgeable of the menu and anxious to help me. That made my day all the way. Mr. Zarda said since this is your first time here I’m going to take care of U. And lord knows he did just that folks. They made sure I was totally and completely happy, full & complete. Lol.. I couldn’t eat all that food but I definitely took my to go bag like a champ. The food was to die for folks, the ribs were smoked perfectly & falling off the bone, all the 3 different beans i tried were unbelievable to the taste buds, the onion rings were fried to perfection with a light crunch & the beef & pork burnt ends were just right, they melted n yo mouth with a edge of crunchyness. All I can say is this folks, this is truly, truly my new found BBQ place in Lenexa, KS. Whenever I’m trucking thru here. Just to know I have a place to stop away from home & I’m treated like a dear friend Instead of a customer by the owner & all his staff from front to back, hell that alone is worth my time, money & support folks. I’m asking all my friends, family members, my biker community and all my truckers who come thru Kansas, please stop here & check them out folks. You’ll be glad u did & you’ll thank me later. Much love, props & hella respect to the owner Mr.Steve Zarda & his entire staff at this location. Sir yall truly made a old tired trucker day a special one sir. Ordering was simple. Food was delicious.
There were a few issues with the order when it arrived but the Zarda team took care of them quickly and efficiently.
I will be back for more when I’m in town the next time.
I ordered the LTD Reserve sandwich meal with a beef (brisket) sandwich, the wedge fries, and a Pepsi.
Absolutely delicious!

We eat at Zarda relatively often and went again this evening. We typically have a good time and enjoy the food. Mike is typically not the friendliest towards us, but tonight he was very rude. I ordered the classic plate with two meats (sliced beef and pork burnt ends). My order came out with just the pork burnt ends so I went up front with the plate to give them back. I was told I didn’t order the classic plate but that they’d bring the beef out separate.
Mike was generally unfriendly and spoke in a very condescending way.
Mike brought out the meat he said he would and brought 4 ounces of beef burnt ends. I explained I had ordered the sliced beef and pork burnt ends. He told me that “it was free food and they normally would charge for the beef burnt ends”. I’m not sure I’ve ever been spoken to in such a condescending manner assuming that I was trying to get free food. My family and I spent a decent bit of money there, and have always enjoyed supporting a local business. While we’ve never felt that he’s very friendly in our interactions, he was incredibly rude this evening. Between the communication from him and the decreased quality of many of the foods we ordered we’ll take our business elsewhere next time.

Lunch today at Zarda BBQ in Lenexa. The experience was excellent. We were met at the register by Steve Zarda who took our order. Today’s recommendation was the Hog Wild sandwich. They also threw in some of their famous burnt ends and cheesy corn.
It was all delicious! Our little ones devoured the burnt ends, not even scraps left in their plate
Friends were nice and crisp and the baked beans, fire .
We came from the Missouri side of the state line and it was well worth the trip, definitely recommend!!

We picked up and headed home once we got home we realized a very big problem. I am giving it 2 stars because the fries were hot and fresh. There wasn’t many but the ones we got were good. Now the sandwich not so much. There was enough dry seasoning on it to fund a small country. You try to take a bite and u got a clump of seasoning burst in your mouth. The meat was inedible, dry hard chunks of who knows what. Was very very disappointed. Definitely not worth 20 dollars for their sandwich and fries.

Let me start by saying that everyone has their favorite style. That said, the order taker was excellent and patient as it was our first time. No issues with the seating. Everything was clean. We ordered a rack of ribs with some onion rings. The rings were great. The ribs I felt were average. Not bad but not great. Same for the sauce. I’ll try something else next time.

The prices is crazy for what I got. Slaps tastes better, and is cheaper. With that said I would still come here over Q39. The fries are very good. The sauces are missing flavor. Pull pork was a little salty. The soda was huge, and tasted better than most fountain drinks. The people were very friendly, and they had comfortable seating. It’s a good BBQ place next to the college if you’re looking for a bite to eat if you have some time between classes. The food was hot, and came quickly.
