We visited for our wedding anniversary as we do every year. The food was good but only one issue with it. The prime rib, the rub they applied was over done with the salt. Now I love sea salt but this was over the top and this was the first time this has happened. But they where cooked perfect. Also the shrimp appetizer and the artichokes where perfect. But my favorite of all is the carrot cake. It comes out warm and so moist paired with a cup of coffee, that is my go to after the meal. We will always come back and love the place.

Best crab cakes I’ve ever had! The salmon and dill dip sharable was fantastic. Also, the steaks and smashed potatoes were delicious. I hope they keep their carrot cake on the menu also… Yum!

We used to really enjoy J Alexander’s, but we’ve been let down twice now at two different locations.
The only good part of our meal was the caesar salad. The fries are usually awesome but they even seemed old. Both steaks were somehow bland even with a decent crust. Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes weren’t too bad but not enough to redeem disappointing steaks.

Great food, good friendly service, but the interior of the restaurant smells like a bag of sweaty gym socks. The carpet of this establishment must be ripped out completely. We almost left because of the nauseating and off putting smell. We changed tables twice to try and get away from the smell and we finally settled on a small table outside. It’s a shame because the food and service are very good. My wife and I ordered the filet mignon and crab cake special. My father-in-law ordered just the crab cakes and my daughter ordered a pepperoni pizza. The crab cakes were the highlight. We were blown away to find amazing crab cakes outside of the east coast where we are originally from. The drinks were very good too. If this place can address the smelly carpet problem they could be really something special in the area.

You can’t go wrong with this restaurant although, the West End Location has tastier food. I don’t really understand if there is a set recipe for food how the flavor changes depending on I guess the chef. I believe the barbecue sauce was missing some ingredients. More like tomato sauce with minimum seasoning. Luckily I had some in fridge. Food was tasty, mac n cheese was great. Quick service, minimal wait time.

J. Alexander’s is usually one of our favorite restaurants because of the quality, consistency, and overall experience — which is why I’m leaving this feedback. We took my mom here last night for her birthday, and while we’ll absolutely be back, this visit wasn’t quite up to the standard we’re used to.
The biggest issue was the pacing/timing of the meal. Our salads came out while we were still eating our appetizer, and the appetizer plate was taken away even though we were still finishing the spinach queso dip. Then more chips were brought out after the appetizer was already cleared. Our entrees (two Maui ribeyes, a pork chop, and roasted chicken) arrived before we were even halfway through our salads, which made the table crowded and felt rushed overall.
Food-wise, the Maui ribeyes were fantastic and my parents loved them. However, the pork chop was cooked through but not warmed all the way through, the roasted chicken was dry, and the broccoli with the pork chop was overdone. The mashed potatoes were tasty and creamy, but a bit looser/soupier than expected.
On the positive side, the service and hospitality were great — everyone was kind and professional, which we truly appreciated.
I’m sharing this because we’ve had so many excellent experiences here and want J. Alexander’s to stay top-tier. We’ll be back, and I’m hoping next time is more in line with what we know this place can be.

Remarkably consistent for the last twenty five years, i’ve been coming here.
I don’t know how, but they always seem to manage and to find the best servers.
Their food is top, notch and again always consistently served beautifully.And quickly.
Although they’d have daily specials, it would nice to see some new changes to the menu.

I came in tonight to grab takeout for my hubby and I. I was a little surprised it took about 45 minutes for our food so I did have to wait at the bar a little while but it was alright because the gentleman who helped me was so nice to talk with a bit. Another sweet young lady came by to ask did I need anything. I appreciate how kind and helpful you guys were. Also my salmon and mashed potatoes were so yummy. I have been coming here since High School which was many years ago so Jalexanders will always be a special place to me as I had many dates here as a youngster. Keep up the great work you guys. I’m not going to lie the amount of potatoes on my plate were so much I’m like goodness these portions are a bit too large but hey some people like that
