You must go inside to the bar to order your food and drink. It’s pretty dark inside and could use some lighting along with fresh greetings. There are plenty of spots to sit and the shading outside along with the fans is nice on a hot day. They do allow pets and have bowls sitting on a shelf outside for your furry friend to enjoy some water if you’d like. The help will clean up as you leave and if you need a to go box you can find them at the side of the bar towards the left along with napkins, fountain drinks, silverware restrooms and water. I would give the food a solid 4 stars but half of the onion rings required taking the peel out of them that was inedible! The chicken sandwiches were cooked nicely as were the sweet potato fries but the best part of the meal was the appetizer. The buffalo cauliflower was absolutely amazing! I would have been happy with just them and a cold beverage to fill up on. Personally, I find the lack of service puzzling and feel they could really use a couple upbeat servers to put things back in order along with some newer menus. The Bars name Onion Creek truly does make you want to cry a river for some service.

my husband and i were looking for a place to grab lunch on a friday afternoon and we came across onion creek. we looked it up online and decided it was cool place because the menu was really expansive and we didn’t know what we were in the mood for. when we walked in, we were greeted by a yound lady behind the bar, super friendly and helpful answering questions as we decided what we wanted. my husband ordered the brisket frito pie with a side of the hand battered onion rings and i ordered the beyond burger with the hand battered onion rings. the food was really good and we walked away with half of the portion to have for dinner. we also had the blueberry lemonade, good, but really sweet. plenty of seating inside and covered seating outside. we will definitely be back!

Really fun brunch spot with comfortable outdoor seating!! Food was delicious and timely. Their chicken and waffles were the best, it wasn’t just chicken tenders thrown on quick waffles.

Stopped by Onion Creek before a show at White Oak Music Hall — perfect little pre-concert hangout. The place has an easy, laid-back vibe: clean, spacious, and a chill outdoor patio that just feels right on a warm Houston evening.
It’s counter service, and the person taking our order was awesome — friendly, quick, and knew the menu. Food came out fast and hit the spot. I had a cheeseburger and onion rings — fresh bun, perfectly seasoned beef, crispy rings… zero complaints there.
Drinks were just okay, but good enough to sip on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Overall, a solid spot to grab a bite and unwind before the music starts. Would definitely come back.

I enjoyed onion creek. It was my first visit and if I have the chance I’ll be back. I had chicken and waffles and it was pretty good.
The place is pretty much self serve. You order from the bar and they bring out your food. After that you’re on your own for refills and such. I guess you could go back to the bar for help. I liked the music which was mostly 90’s alternative like Soundgarden, STP and the like. It was a little hard to have a conversation over the music, but we were inside. They have a lot of outdoor seating. I saw a lot of people with there dogs. Which I love.

We wandered into this restaurant while visiting. What a neighborhood gem! The burgers were well seasoned and very tasty. One of our group had the street tacos and raved about them. We then went to brunch on Saturday. The bloody Marys were awesome! The serving size of the meal was huge. I ate the Lox and bagel and was beyond full. The brisket hash was delectable. Do yourself a favor and find this little slice of heaven when you are in the Houston Heights area.

Our group ordered four of the Cuban brisket burgers since I have had them several times and they have always been good, but not today. All four of our burgers were loaded up with these 1 in square cubes of pure fat. I spoke with the cook about it and he said he can’t control the meat. I said well somebody had to cut the meat and put it on the burger. He had nothing to say, no apology no nothing. He did offer to refund our money so we did that and left to eat at another restaurant. Reminds me of one of those guys that takes things out on other people when he has a bad day. What a horrible person and a horrible experience.

A small restaurant with more outdoor seating than indoor. The food is tasty. We were a large group of over 50 people, and there was only one person taking orders. After a long line, they finally opened a second register almost at the end. But it’s a nice place to sit outside and chat during certain times of the day when it’s not too hot.

I just had the best Saturday brunch experience and had to share it with you. I went to this cute restaurant that had a DJ spinning some great tunes while we were dining. The atmosphere was amazing—perfect for a relaxed weekend vibe. I tried the chicken and waffles, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were on point, and I can’t stop thinking about it.

We ordered a full order of boiled mushrooms, but only got a half order. No one seemed to know how much a full order versus a half order was but we know the first order that was supposed to be a full order was only a half order because we ordered a full order later and it was twice as much clearly.
You have a side bar. That’s great because the line for the main bar was pretty long and seemingly slow. No one was going to the side bar. So I did. And found out why. It was extremely limited on what they had. In fact, I think they only had three beers: Bud Light, ultralight, and an IPA. When ordering a vodka drink, I wanted cranberry and they didn’t have that. I tried ordering one of their specialty drinks that they had advertised, but he said he didn’t have the stuff for that over there. He asked if I was OK with house vodka and I asked if he had Tito’s. He said no… He only had two other options, one of which was deep at grapefruit and another vodka, which I had never heard of.
If you’re gonna open the bar over there, which is a good idea on busy weekends… You’ve got to stock it properly. Don’t do it if you can’t do it right.
Nevertheless, the mushroom mushrooms were tasty. We just felt a little cheated. And the specialty cocktail at the main bar were delicious.
I’ll be back but wanted to share my experience and hopefully someone there will read these and do something different as a result.
