Took my brother for lunch and was very glad we went . They seated us quickly and we ordered the brussel sprouts first – delicious! He had the Tavern burgers and I had the grilled chicken on sourdough- both were very tasty! We will come back

You could tell by the amount of locals coming in and out this is a typical hangout for them. We were quickly waited on and delicious cold water was brought to our table in a carafe. They have a pretty good selection of food here. We tried the brussel sprouts and the Ahi Tuna as appetizers and they did a good job with both of them. The brussel sprouts are nice and crispy plenty of flavor and the Ahi Tuna was cooked to perfection. We were able to split a nice salad which had a ginger beer dressing which was delicious. We also split a tavern burger. It was cooked perfectly and the french fries that came with it were also delicious. Finally someone that knows how to put salt on french fries. Obviously they used course sea salt as they were perfectly salted. The wait staff were friendly. There’s also a nice brewery right next door where we were able to get a cold one after we were done eating. They also have a large barn for live entertainment and plenty of good groups coming in for entertainment. Just look up their website and you’ll see who’s coming. It was a great place for a lunch and we will definitely be back.

Cute littke place. Nothing fancy, just basics done right!! Mac n cheese was off the chain good!! Brussel Sprouts not greasy, bread pudding soooo good, moist, not soggy. Details in how cucumber salad presented very nice. Burger perfectly cooked. Will go back!

Beautiful restaurant. Great staff. The Charles City burger was excellent. Had a minor issue with the wife’s food, but it was dealt with promptly and professionally. Will definitely return to try other food.

Stopped at this restaurant while riding Virginia Capital Trail. The service was great. We were seated almost immediately and served within 15 minutes or ordering. I ordered the Tavern burger, which was pretty good. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich and it was delicious! I recommend ordering that. It’s breaded in a pickle batter. My only complaint was the infestation of the lady bugs. They were everywhere! We had to move inside. Other than that, I definitely recommend and will be going back.

We went for lunch (first visit was dinner after 6:30) on Thursday at noon and it was a much different experience. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Our first visit here while visiting friends who live in CC. We got a table for 4 at 6:30 on. Sunday, that was great. Server was new and friendly. Food and service were good.
My husband said his burger was good but small, my chicken was tasty but ended up having to slice the chicken with knife to eat. The brussel sprouts were tasty, the fries were good but not very hot when served. My drink, was on the light side even though I asked for their non well liquor. All in all the atmosphere and the company were a plus. We’d try it again but maybe something else on the menu.

Went here twice and had amazing times ! We had Fried Chicken and Fried Fish the first time and Steak with Fried chicken the second time. We also had Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding and ice creams and tried all their beers. They were all delicious.
I would recommend either sit on the patio or outside in the screened porch to enjoy the beautiful view of the field and manicured garden.
Must visit place if you are doing the Virginia Capital Trail or just happen to be close by!

First time eating here but definitely will not be our last. Atmosphere is cute and quaint. Service was perfect, attentive, polite and super helpful. The food was AMAZING!!! We had wings to start, honey Sriracha, and they are the best wings we’ve had in years. Cooked crisp and lightly sauced, highly recommend. He had fish and chips; fish was lightly breaded and cooked perfect. Hand cut fries, lightly seasoned round out a very nice plate with solid portions. I had the steak frites and have never had sirloin cooked so tender and flavorful. I would give this place 100 stars if I could.

We’ve been to the brewery and finally made it to the tavern. It was last minute and not crowded at all. First, food was fantastic. The burger was tender and flavored great. I had the slaw and some of the best we’ve had.
Best advice, be sure to check how busy and make a reservation just in case.
