Reviews
From the very first bite, the pastrami sandwich delivers. The meat is thinly sliced, juicy and flavourful, piled high on fresh bread — the kind of sandwich you’re going to remember. Many guests describe it as one of the best pastrami sandwiches they’ve had. It hits that sweet spot of nostalgia and real deli-style craft.
Crowd Favourite: Chili Cheese Fries
Pair that sandwich with their chili cheese fries and you’re in for a treat. The serving is generous and the fries are loaded with toppings — a perfect complement to the main. Multiple reviews call the fries “massive” and “incredibly good”, which makes them ideal for sharing.
Value & Portion Size
One thing that really impressed: you don’t feel like you’re overpaying for mediocrity. The Hat manages to offer large portions and satisfying quality at a price that feels fair for what you’re getting. As one reviewer said: “For what you’re getting, the value is solid.”
Service & Atmosphere
While the setting is casual (counter ordering, quick service), the staff are described as friendly and efficient. The place doesn’t try to over-dress itself; it leans into being straightforward, unpretentious, and comfortable. One visitor noted that it felt “clean, welcoming, and old-school in the best way.”
If I were to sum it up: The Hat in Simi Valley nails exactly what it sets out to do. Great pastrami, outstanding chili cheese fries, solid value, and good service. Whether you’re stopping by solo or sharing with friends, this is a spot that delivers satisfying, no-frills food done well.
God Bless, Debra, Bella and Chance.
The Hat evokes a sense of pride in quality ingredients, service, and community. A small menu, but one that’s been done the same way for a long time. A dependable eatery that stands firm and won’t bow down to corporate pressure. And I like that.
Yeah, it’s just fast food. But it’s fast food with purpose. And I think that’s something everyone could appreciate these days.
Everything hit the mark—burger was juicy, fries were hot and crispy, and nothing felt rushed or sloppy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
No overthinking this one.
Solid bite from start to finish.
They also have a drive through! And they work until 11:00 p.m. which is super nice!
Highly recommended!
This is not a regular chain restaurant but this is much better!
