The ribs were tender and flavorful, but a little cold (everything was hot.
The chicken was great. Nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly.
Pinto beans & brisket were good but needed more brisket.
Mac & cheese with chilies was great.
I had the opportunity to visit Podnah’s while on a business trip to Portland. This was the BBQ restaurant that was recommended by my coworkers from the area – and it didn’t disappoint! The service was great with friendly staff and the seating area was open and cozy.
I ordered the 2 meat plate with both meats being the brisket and with a side of green chili mac n cheese and cornbread. The brisket was well seasoned and tasted great… but the meat was unfortunately sliced with the grain which made it much tougher than it should have been. But I imagine without that, it would have been amazing. The cornbread was delicious with a good balance of sweet and savory. The mac n cheese was delicious, albeit a bit runny. My coworker also shared a pork rib and sausage – both of which were really good! Especially the rib, I loved the seasoning and tenderness. For dessert, the breading pudding was fantastic with fresh bananas and nilla wafers layered throughout.
Overall, I would absolutely visit again and would recommend others to try as well!
It could be cheaper, but it could also be more expensive easily. I would day this is a fairly priced establishment for what you get.
Brisket was good. Hish puppies were amazing. The corn bread is outstanding. Great wedge salad.
It has a very southwestern style. Lots of green Chiles in everything if you are sensitive to spicy food.
The Mac n cheese has a cheeze sauce, which is not the style I prefer. But it tastes great with the green Chiles.
The ribs were tough for me is my only complaint. I would come back here for sure, especially with a large group.
Update! Went back and got their pancakes!!! Still delicious, still 10/10. Next time I’m getting their potatoes.
Always top notch for bbq; and i adore thier collard greens!
I havent been there in about 6 months so maybe things have changed but there was a super weird aftertaste to my brisket today and i wasnt fond of the jellied bbq sauce (texture of jello)
Still going to rate it a 3 as every other time ot has been a true 5/5.
Hopefully a one off today!
Also, even if you order take out, its an automatic 18% gratuity. I usually tip 20% anyways, but it feels a little pushy/desperate/tacky. Not going to downrate for that but want to mention it.
