I ordered an online order to be DONE at 6:30. I arrived at 6:30 and waited for an hour while cars went through the drive through and people went through the line. There is no organization and they are out of everything. No employees empathized or started working on my order. I’m absolutely livid. I don’t know if I will be back. We didn’t even get all of our food. The only reason I stayed is because they said it was almost done multiple times. They were out of chicken so I said steak was fine and when I finally told them I wanted a refund they told me they would get started on my order and asked what meat I want since they are out of chicken. It’s almost laughable how terrible the service was. Come home to our order to see the quesadilla has no cheese and it’s almost all grease . I haven’t been this upset in a long time

We waited in the drive through line for 15 minutes just to find out that we couldn’t place are order and wasted our time because we didn’t go in the right entrance way. The sign needs to be moved, because there are two ways to get to the drive through. I’m sure we aren’t the only one this happened to. The lady at the window was also very blunt and didn’t help rectify the issue. Poor customer service.

Ordered a large queso and received a small, that they had placed in the bottom of the bag, underneath two salads, so it popped open and spilled out, so I didn’t get my queso. Also my sprite was literally not even full when he brought it out to me.

We have gone to Cafe Rio three times in the past two weeks. EVERY SINGLE TIME, they have been out of steak. It is almost as if they are unable or unwilling to have steak ready for people to order. Two of the three times, we had to wait for another meat to be cooked. One of the three times we ordered online, the meat choice was not available, and we were told that it would be an hour until it was ready. This location, by far, is the worst Cafe Rio I have ever visited. We have visited Cafe Rio locations in Virginia as well as in the Salt Lake area and none are as bad as this location. The food quality is wildly inconsistent between visits. I’m not sure if the cause is due to poor staffing or training, or some combination of both, but it is one of the reasons we rarely visit (aside from the last two weeks of course). I recall moving to the area and learning of Costa Vida (with no locations on the East Coast), and being perplexed how another restaurant serving essentially the same menu could exist so close to Cafe Rio. Now I understand. It would be best if this location updated their menu (and their website) to remove steak as a protein option and warn customers of extreme delays so that those customers who expect their food in relatively short order can instead patronize a different restaurant. Finally, the restaurant tends to have a limited stock of other items, such as utensils, sauces, etc. which is not an issue I have seen at other Cafe Rio restaurants. I should note that I almost always leave positive reviews, as I don’t believe in leaving negative reviews of simple bad experiences (feel free to check my profile). That I would leave this review should be indicative of just how bad the experience is with this particular location of Cafe Rio.

At this Cafe Rio, the wait times are very quick, and your food comes out delicious and fresh! The drinks were well stocked, but my only concern was the cleanliness. I would recommend ordering takeout because when me and my family tried sitting down at one of the tables, it was very messy and wasn’t cleaned up after. Later, I did see an employee clean the tables, so I’m glad they are trying to keep up with the rushes. Other than that, the burritos were really delicious!

I guess this is what you get once private equity takes over a business. I personally don’t think cafe rio is that good but traveling to St. George for hours with two kids who needed dinner we stopped. I should have turned around when one employee was smoking like a chimney right on the patio where you eat. Walked in and food all over the floor, trash cans all full. Not a crazy line of people (maybe 8), yet somehow nothing was moving. One girl working the line with other employees all over doing who knows what. Literally took 30 min to get through the line. Out of grilled chicken, beans looked like they had been there for days. Food spilled around all the containers they serve from. I decided I was getting nothing because it was so gross. Wanted to leave but my kids were starving and didn’t want to leave. One kid got 2 tacos and the other a cheese quesadilla and a drink ($31!) because of course they want a tip. Said we wanted a horchata, paid for it, dispenser completely empty. That place is disgusting. They should close.

Cafe rio has always been a good option for getting food fast that is not fast food. Normally, when you step up to the line, they ask you what you want in a semi abrupt manner cause theyre always busy, but some kid named Hayden actually seemed to care this time. Today was a big fail. Placed a pickup order at 3:00 PM to have food ready when we arrived as we were driving to the location with a family and a hungry toddler.
We show up at the location at 3:40 and the order is nowhere to be seen. Our pick up ready time in the app was 3:30-3:40 PM. Upon asking the worker about the order, she turns around and picks up our order receipt and says that she will get working on it. The order had not even been started at all. The worker making our order was friendly but she was completing it alone while the other workers chatted with each other about playing Roblox later. Over 40 people in the order line plus many drive through orders were served before our order started rolling out. At around 4:00 PM they informed us they were out of steak. We changed the order to grilled chicken, and they told us it would be fresh and be right up. 15 minutes later we go up and they tell us they are out of chicken and that it was never ready and that they are making it now. 10 minutes later we finally got the last part of our order at 4:20 PM.
Our order was finished 1 hour and 20 minutes after it was ordered. They served many people before finishing our order which meant they ran out of the steak and chicken pushing our order even further back. One worker offered us free chips and queso which we happily accepted. The person fixing our food was friendly but the rest of the staff were unbothered. Trashes were full and tables only started getting bussed when we were leaving. The women’s bathroom was also out of toilet paper.

I would like to say I would love to comeback and visit but that’s not the case. My husband and I ordered a chicken quesadilla and 2 tacos, for the tacos we had ordered chicken and fire grilled steak but we got shredded chicken and beef, we asked the employee to add lettuce and pico just on one taco and it was added on both and she seemed bothered when we told her it was for one taco only, I understand it’s a very fast paced restaurant but it’s not an excuse for the employees to make the customers feel like a burden. The only reason I would comeback is because of the older lady working the register on 6/19/25 at around noon she was AMAZING and very informative. Based on my personal experience I can’t say I recommend this location, at least not for dine-in I’ve had amazing experiences at others but definitely not here.
