This was my first time at this particular diner. It was quick and kind service. I had a turkey burger with no bun and a sweet potato. Simple eats and good diner food.

Has a very large menu, lots of choices. We ordered steak and cheese sub, chicken baked Alaska and chicken and seafood Marsala. Portions are huge so be hungry or be ready to share or bring some home. I was the only one able to finish my dinner. They bring warm bread and butter before serving, which was good. Greek salads were good. The dressing was pink, which spooked us a little but was still very tasty. The sub had a lot of onions, so make sure you want that. Chicken was done perfectly for both meals, but my wife didn’t like the stuffing because it wasn’t real crab. The Marsala sauce was delicious, but It went better with the chicken than the seafood. Took 3 deserts to go for later because we were so stuffed. They look great.

Just what I was looking for. I moved to NC 30 years ago and you don’t find diners like this. Big portions, reasonable prices. The whole family enjoyed it.

Good food and a very friendly server!

Enjoyed a turkey sandwich, it was well prepared and tasty. Cole slaw was lacking in flavor.

The omelette was delicious!

We were seated quickly as it wasn’t that busy!

There’s one thing I know about Long Islander’s, they love their diners. Diners stay open late, have friendly servers, great service and offer heaping portions of tasty food. They also serve breakfast all day.
I stopped in for a late night meal and was really impressed. I totally enjoyed a hot bowl of Matzah ball soup, an open Turkey sandwich with onion rings and french fries while my better half had a Reuben sandwich with fries. The portions were large and hard to finish. Long live the doggie bag.
Start your day with breakfast – featuring omelettes, fruits, cereals, bagel bin, french toast, waffles, pancakes, and griddle specials. Their lunch menu offers sandwiches from the Carving board, Triple Decker Sandwiches, Cold platters, Jumbo burgers, Salads, Wraps, and Airport Specials. Dinner and later features Soups, Appetizers, Open sandwiches, Grecian delights, Italian specialties, Steaks & Chops, Surf & turf combos, Treasures from the sea, and a large choice of side orders.
The Airport Diner is on my list, as one of the most popular eateries, conveniently located near the MacArthur airport. Stop in and tell them I sent you. You’ll love the food, folks and warm atmosphere.

Ordered a triple deck of turkey sandwich with extra crispy bacon only to find out the bacon was cooked on one side completely raw on the other.
Went back this morning to try to give them another chance to have breakfast extra two egg whites well extra extra extra crispy bacon and Home fries. Also ordered a coffee with milk.
My coffee came with half-and-half
And just as suspected, the bacon was cooked on one side, not the other, the eggs were cooked on one side, not the other, and the potatoes were burnt on top and uncooked on the bottom and in the middle the border health should come to this place. there is a reason why I have not been back there in over 30 years. I don’t know how they’re still in business. I explained to the waitress this morning that it was there the evening before April was my server she was sweet awesome and is a reason why you come back but the food is not.
The border health should pay a visit. This is how people get sick. This is how people have digestive issues. This causes many side effects to people. That’s why they have a board of health to make sure chefs or a.k.a. wannabe cooks have to follow guidelines instead of being lazy if I was running the kitchen and you have multiple tables and limited staff, we always drop baking in a deep fryer to make sure it’s cooked through. If you can’t time your stuff get out of the kitchen you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen because I know how to run one. Cooked through bacon does not show any fat and it’s not supposed to be pink. The pictures aren’t clear enough. It’s like eating a little strips of ham. I have acid reflux. I have indigestion issues and this got me sick.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend because I was with a picky eater and the menu had everything. However this is my reason for the 3 stars. The menu was a bit overwhelming and all over the place. The food was OK. My bill was roughly 20 bucks and change…I ordered an unsweetened tea and the french dip sandwich, and that’s it. Seemed a bit pricey to me. My friend ordered potatoe skins and chicken tenders with fries. The server and staff were super nice and helpful
