This is my second visit to Haystax. My first visit my breakfast and service was good. An acquaintance had an egg salad sandwich which was only to be described as a Cadillac of egg salad sandwiches! She stated it was really good. My second visit was not as good. My orders consisted of a bacon mushroom Swiss burger, a farmer’s omlette and a patty melt to go. I do realize that thus place is ridiculously busy. The need for more staff is an understatement. So, the service was really bad, but great when we could flag them down. Both burgers were extremely bland, but… the burger texture and burger/bun amount per ratio was perfect! The locals were very friendly and visit often as regulars. I’d really hate to leave them a bad review just due to a couple experiences. I will return to try more items on their menu which has a little bit for everyone!

Welcome to Haystax, where you can sit wherever you feel comfortable. The restaurant is decorated with southern charm & each table has a unique Salt & Pepper shaker from what seems like a very big collection, including seasonal & holiday creations.
The waitresses & waiters are quick to serve up a smile & tell about their daily specials. The menu has a large variety of foods.
I have certain food intolerances, and I’ve never felt discouraged from asking about ingredients used in certain menu items. The kitchen staff does a tremendous job at serving delicious meals.
What I like most about Haystax is the friendly staff; this is what truly makes Haystax a family style restaurant. They support local Fire, Police, and EMS, as well as respecting the contributions & sacrifices military veterans. Most recently, several waitresses have been extremely supportive with my family’s fight with cancer.

The God-Father

Everyone at the table was very pleased except me. I got the seafood platter. The shrimp was way overcooked and rubbery and cocktail sauce had so much horseradish in it you couldn’t taste the food you dipped in it. I feel the grease should have been changed before service today. Which is why the seafood was overcooked. Never got a refill on my drink, left the restaurant thirsty. Other than those little details it was a nice visit. I will be back. I just won’t order seafood again. I did mention the seafood experience to the cashier to no avail…

I ordered the chopped sirloin dinner. It has a onions and green peppers all over it. Nowhere on the menu does it say that peppers and onions come on top of it. It wouldn’t be so bad with onions but I am very allergic to peppers. They were closed by the time I drove home so can’t call them. I just don’t understand why they would not put with or topped with onions and bell peppers. I would have said plain. I hope they replace it

Delicious food, but terrible service from the waitress. She never returned to check on the four of us or to refill our drinks. I had no drink at all while eating. During the entire meal, our waitress was talking to other employees. The tip that was given to her was way too much!

All in all, this is a country diner with no consistent theme, a huge menu, and a great place for your down home country folk who have been coming here for years.

My mom and I decided to give this restaurant a second try today. We stopped in at 12:30. This is a seat-yourself restaurant. The chairs all have their own black book-cover style chair slips. Every table had fun salt and peppers and advertisements for other local businesses.

Mom got a chicken blt wrap with tots and I got a Turkey melt with fries.

It took 45 minutes for food to come out. My french fries were hot but had no flavor whatsoever. Well, I could taste the fryer oil, but that’s about it. Neither the BLT nor the melt really tasted like anything. If it weren’t for the Texas Pete hot sauce on the table, I wouldn’t have eaten much, if I’m being honest. My sandwich was supposed to come with grilled onions. It did have them, but they were only grilled enough for the sharp onion flavor to be gone, not enough for them to taste like grilled onions or for them to be soft. They crunched for sure.

Mom also got unsweetened tea, and when it was refilled, he didn’t feel the glass all the way, and didn’t add any more ice, so it was very quickly room temperature.

We have been here twice, and as this was no better then last time, we’re going to assume this is normal. We won’t be coming back.

The food was delicious! It was not very busy but the service was very slow. We enjoyed our company while we waited and it was worth the wait. The best part was the sides, corn nuggets, fried green beans, fried okra, yam patties, sweet potato tots, and so many more we wanted to try.

There’s a lot of options on the menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also have weekly AUCE specials and daily specials on the board. I enjoyed the Knight’s Breakfast with hash brown casserole, Grits, sausage links, two eggs and sausage biscuit with gravy. Everything came out hot and fresh. If the onions in the casserole were chopped smaller and cooked longer it would’ve been perfect. The AUCE pulled pork was good and very filling. The prices were reasonable. The service was great. Lady’s were super nice!

I would have given 5 stars but the young lady that checked us out at the front with the nose ring was not friendly.
