The most iconic spot for Peking duck in Chicago! This renowned restaurant lived up to the expectation. The restaurant had plenty of seating, but keep in mind, you have to call ahead to reserve the whole duck dinner. The base price is $70, and you’ll definitely need six extra bao buns, which is another $4.50. It is intended for three to four people, and we thought it was a decent portion. Your food is brought out almost instantly, and they slice the duck tableside. The special thing about this Peking duck meal is that no part of the duck is wasted. The duck meat was so tender, smoky, and juicy. The skin was crisped nicely and provided a good textural contrast with the succulent meat. The roasted duck comes with thinly sliced carrots, green onions, radish, and a sweet, tart sauce, which all pair perfectly. The bao buns were steaming hot and pillowy soft. Putting together all the ingredients resulted in a grandiose symphony of flavors. The second course was the duck fried rice. It was seasoned well but did not seem to have too much duck meat. Lastly, we finished our meal with a soothing soup made from the duck carcass. The broth was rich and reinvigorating. If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Chicago, Sun Wah is a must visit!

You found the only thing worth leaving your house for. Sun Wah BBQ. The Peking Duck special is a crime scene of deliciousness. That skin? Shatters like my ego. The fried rice? It’s the main character, I’m just a side quest. It’s a big space, perfect for fitting in your group and your collective trauma. Just remember: ask for extra buns. You’ll need them to soak up the grease and the tears of joy. 10/10, would ruin my diet and my reputation for this.”

Great food, great flavor, and food reflects quality food prep and cooking skills. Off menu Peking duck was a little pricey and delicious at the same time. Felt like green onions and sauce for a table of 5 should be more than a small dish. Caused a waiting for ingredients at the table. Also, wished portions were just a little bit bigger for the fried rice and pan-fried noodles.

Food was good. We didn’t have to wait to be seated. I liked the Mongolian beef. We got it spicy but couldn’t taste any heat. Good flavor on it- not saucy. Can’t comment on the sweet & sour soup because I just don’t like it but the company I was with loved it. The duck was juicy and had a more mild flavor to it slightly citrus & ginger. We really liked it. Service was okay- don’t expect someone to smile and be nice but it was efficient.
If you like decent food & are in a group & don’t mind it being busy, this is a place. There were a lot of groups already seated when we came in.
My only complaint is the bathrooms- pretty bad! Smells like mildew and needs major renovations.

The Peking duck was delicious. Meat was juicy and tender. The rest of the dishes tasted delicious as well. However, the service was disappointing. We waited a long time before someone came by to take our order. The servers were also a bit rude and seemed impatient and angry when taking our order. If you want good food and don’t mind the service, then this is the place.

The Beijing Duck Dinner was excellent – crispy skin, and tasty. Other dishes ordered rounded out the meal: Walnut Shrimp, beef and pea pods, Chinese broccoli, medium bbq plate.

For me, perhaps I’m just not a fan of this region of Chinese foods. I did not enjoy eating. I did try many dishes we ordered but its just not my favorable type of food. Honestly nothing wrong with food, just my personal preference. Other than that everything was good.

Went here for my birthday and had the Peking duck. It was massive and very filling though I wish I had a couple buns. The meal also included a soup and some noodles which were also hearty.
