Presentation of chips and salsa with guacamole was very messy almost looked like they just plopped the guacamole on the plate so it looked like maybe someone had accidentally put a finger in it before serving it to us.
I ordered the filet which if ordered medium-well has to be butterflied as indicated by Sara, our server. It was delicious was equivalent to Birkins in Tampa and presentation was better. I ordered the red cabbage with goat cheese which was absolutely delicious and very unique in the way it was prepared. They simmer in brown sugar and vinegar. I would definitely recommend it if you like cabbage. My husband ordered the French Dip it was also a pleasant presentation, the bread was fresh, light and crispy. My son ordered the ribs and I have to say these were my favorite. They had a perfectly Smokey barbecue taste and were accompanied by a coleslaw.
My family and I are accustomed to traveling and have met all walks of life. If you are a more down to earth kind of person, while the food is great the people here are very “hoity-toity”! If you can look past that, then it’s worth the food, but everyone in this place had an air of “I’m a movie star” lol!!! Who knows, maybe they were although I didn’t recognize them. lol
Bathrooms were clean and tidy.
I would recommend this place for the food.
Four of us went and ordered a bunch of dishes and shared everything family-style. We didn’t try the whole menu, but everything we did order was a total win—no misses.
The service deserves special mention. Our waitress from New Mexico was absolutely outstanding. Hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had anywhere. Fast, friendly, sharp, and always there at the perfect time without hovering. Just top-tier service.
Food came out quickly, everything was well-timed, and the whole experience felt smooth and effortless. You can tell this place is dialed in.
If you’re in Scottsdale and don’t stop at Houston’s, you’re doing it wrong. We’ll definitely be back.
I visited this past Sunday for my birthday. I had the Hawaiian ribeye with braised red cabbage. The ribeye, while tasting great was loaded with fat. I left nearly a third of the steak behind because of that. The braised red cabbage was also interesting. It had some tough areas as tho it had gotten dry at some point.
Service was great as well as the atmosphere, but I’m baffled with the food inconsistency.
Not sure what happened, but I’ll give it another try at some point.
Ksjusa and Sara were awesome and great waitresses. But, I have a big issue how things transpired at the restaurant. Ksjusa was there and we went over my dietary restrictions. I just can’t do seed oils and I can’t do margarine so I only do butter and certain oils. I played it safe by ordering the ribs, broccoli, and corn although I thought my meal was pretty good, I had taken some ribs home, and my husband said that he didn’t like him because there wasn’t any smoked flavor to the ribs, lol.
My girlfriend ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. When it arrived, she was concerned because it wasn’t the Caesar salad, and it wasn’t the dressing. Our waitress explained that it was the Caesar salad and it wasn’t a traditional Caesar salad because it had corn and kale and blah blah blah, but it wasn’t Caesar salad dressing so we made her take it back. It was as if they didn’t believe that they had the wrong dressing on it! I asked for a little side of the Caesar salad so we could make sure.. What she gave us was totally different than what was on the salad. Ralph brought us out their take on the Caesar salad. I had explained to him that we had to get the menu back to look at the descriptions and at no where there was any mention of peanut or peanut oil in the Caesar salad! I explained to Ralph that could have been a very serious mistake if she or I would’ve been allergic to peanuts! He was not apologetic, nor did he offer to comp it or even give her, her salad at 50% off. That was a very poor decision. Well, their version of a Caesar salad should’ve been listed as an oil. Caesar, it really didn’t have great flavor and it was full of whatever seed oil they use.
I talked about going there for years, and now that I finally did, I will not return. One and done.
I JUST CAN’T
The food is consistently outstanding. Every dish is crafted with care, from the perfectly cooked steaks to the fresh salads and signature entrées that never disappoint. You can taste the quality and attention to detail in every bite.
What really elevates Houston’s, though, is the people—especially the General Manager, Ralph. He is absolutely wonderful. His welcoming presence, genuine hospitality, and dedication to making every guest feel cared for set the tone for the entire restaurant. Ralph goes above and beyond, and it truly shows in the experience from start to finish.
The staff reflects his leadership as well: friendly, attentive, and always on point.
If you’re looking for exceptional food, a warm and comfortable atmosphere, and a team that treats you like family, Houston’s Scottsdale is the place to be. Five stars, every time.
