Had a genuinely great experience at Old Homestead Steakhouse. We ordered the 40‑day dry‑aged rib steak for two, medium rare, and it was cooked absolutely perfectly. The beef itself was so flavorful and tender that we didn’t feel the need for any extra sauces or seasoning – it really stood on its own.
For sides, we tried the hash brown with egg, which was something different and a fun, satisfying twist compared to the usual steakhouse sides. The salad was fresh and well done, a nice balance to the richness of the steak. Overall, it was a fantastic meal and a very enjoyable experience – I’d happily come back for that rib steak again.
Every steakhouse i go to i always order a French onion soup. I love how there was on a pureed level and it was perfect! The steakhouse on the other hand, if I had room I my belly for one more i would of ate another one. Juicy, a nice wood smoke taste and perfect seasoned! Oh forgot to mention, hashbrowns with the fried egg on top, a must if your craving a steak and eggs kinda vibe.
Did not get drinks/wine menu, had to ask for one.
Chopped salad very bland, almost like it sat out entire day.
Bacon strip amazing, very smoky.
All the sides were amazing. French fries, baked potato and spinach.
Porterhouse for 2: it was very bland, no seasoning. And it tasted more like prime rib roast than a typical steak you expect.
Another issue, good steak should have a solid crust, its impossible to have a crust when your steak is sitting in a plate full of liquid.
Tables are very very close to one another. It gets loud and annoying real quick.
There are other steak houses in NYC I would rather visit.
