Excellent food and service. The only disappointment was that the menu outside did not seem to be the same as when ordering. Would recommend a reservation for Saturday nights.

Fabulous Alsace (German-French) restaurant!! A French friend in Angers took me here (at the huge Atoll shopping complex). Way better than anything I was expecting. In general, I’m not a fan of German food, but this was something TOTALLY DIFFERENT – not your typical beanie-weanees, people! “Gourmet” was the only word I could come up with to describe the sauerkraut and sausages/wurst they have there. Nothing like what you get in a jar in the States haha. It wasn’t sour nor was the different types of sausages bland like a boring hotdog. It just tasted so yummy, with a quality that I had never had before for this type of cuisine. Would definitely come here again. Moderate price, great service with everyone so friendly and attentive. I had the “menu” option with a “plat/dessert”. Entree means appetizer here, so don’t get that option unless that’s what you want. I had a “Formule Taverne” selection with a price of about 18 euros, roughly. Specifically, I chose the following:
Choucroute Brasserie
Saucisse de Francfort, Strasbourg, saucisson à l’ail, poitrine fumée, pommes de terre.

I chose dessert instead of an entree, and got the “boules” of sorbet – raspberry (framboise), strawberry (fraise), and I believe black currant (cassis). Top-notch as well.

My friend had a “Fruits de Mer” selection and loved it.

The quality / price ratio was such a great find, particularly. I have to thank my friend Paul for bringing us here! Will definitely come back, when I’m visiting Angers again!!

My wife and I have been many times to La Taverne and find it an excellent place to eat, with a good choice of dishes.
Today we had no complaints, however for the first time we decided to book on line ( knowing how popular it is at lunch time) and received confirmation, but on arrival our reservation had not been noted in the diary!
