I recently ate at Lizard Thicket and had a solid overall experience. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, with that classic Southern, home-style vibe. Last Monday, I decided after a long weekend of no snow just ice that I needed to treat myself to something special. After I went to substation 2 to order me a number 19 all the way. I decided to go lizard thicket for a hot meal. So glad I went.
I was undecided what I wanted to eat. I was either going to eat 2 piece chicken tenders with fried okra and peaches or cup of chicken and dumplings with macaroni and cheese and peaches. Guess, what I pick? You guess right. The small plate with chicken and dumplings.
It was so good I ordered the cup but the don’t sell the cup Togo which is so ludicrous to me. I brought the bowl for 5.99. It was worth it but I felt it wasn’t worth it because I was on a budget. I don’t like to be forced to buy higher if I don’t have to. Everything was good and fresh. The macaroni was top tier. Not many people was in here.
Before I left the cute old couple, well the mister asked my brother was I pregnant lol. I’m assuming because he came inside to get me. To my things and help me up. No sir I wish I was pregnant. Just have some health issues going on. He really made my day.

I stopped eating at this location for a while but decided to give it another shot. This morning I ordered takeout, and when I got home my bacon was so burnt it tasted like fatback. Absolutely disgusting. Why would employees allow food that is clearly not fit for human consumption to be sent out to paying customers? This location used to be good, but now it’s gone downhill and is definitely not worth it anymore.

The food is decent if you luck up and actually get it freshly cooked and hot. But good Lord the new take-out utensils they have now are awful. Barely strong enough to pick up a green bean. Go back to the old ones you always had, please. I know, I know, you gotta save that penny!

Awesome service by our waitress Jennifer. She was friendly and helpful and on top of everything. Can’t do any better if a job serving us! Food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. Loved my veggies and the liver and onions were tender and delicious! Restaurant is clean through out and even the dishwasher is busy keeping the tubs cleared out. The entire staff is friendly and courteous! They make us feel right at home. Doesn’t get any better than this folks! Everyone keep up the great work! Jennifer, keep being a caring waitress that works hard to see her customers are happy and satisfied.

There were four of us. All chicken was good. 1 complain the chicken was dry.. Food was nicely seasoned . Sweet tea was wonderful. Went at 2 and it was empty. Great service. I purchased a T-shirt. Our meal was 32$ for 2.

Been coming to this location for a few years now, they have a new manager and let me tell you, that man is good. I haven’t had a chance to speak with him but he looks ex-military or something. He is consistently keeping the place in order, sweeping, bussing tables, cashing out customers, and this morning he was in the back cooking the pancakes and French toast. They were some of the best tasting and visually appealing that Ive ever had at this location. Hopefully he sticks around, as if Knox Abbot wasn’t already good, he is definitely a welcome asset to the location. 10/10 definitely coming back.
