Still the absolute best Catfish around the area. Fluffy white and expertly breaded. Also notable was the strawberry salad that comes with a raspberry vinaigrette. The service was polite but when I had asked for Cinnamon with my Sweet Potato the poor thing brought back a Black Pepper shaker. Luckily, at least I had sense to know the difference and didn’t pepper my potato. Plus the coleslaw is tangy and overrated. The floor i ln the dining area was an absolute mess but I’ve always enjoyed the rustic atmosphere and “By the River” vibe. I enjoyed my private solo table and the conversations where light and cordial. Have absolutely no wish to return here ever again and it definitely wasn’t worth $30.

Great old family restaurant. Forgot to take a before photo, but here’s my after! I got the stuffed shrimp, baked potato and house salad with hush puppies. My husband got the platter that had a stuffed crab, which I ALMOST got, but am so glad I went with the shrimp with crab imperial stuffing instead.

The only complaint would be the hush puppies had zero flavor. They were fried fine, but there was no seasoning or even onions in them.

My wife Julie and I arrived here Thursday afternoon after traveling from Bowling Green, KY, as part of our Anniversary trip.

Julie had the shrimp and clams seafood combo, with coleslaw and fries, and I had the seafood platter, with shrimp, clams, deviled crab, and a whole fried catfish, along with coleslaw and perfectly steamed vegetable medley. Both meals were accompanied with a huge basket of hush puppies.

To start, the coleslaw was excellent, with all the ingredients freshly prepared, with a side of homemade coleslaw dressing so that you could prepare it the way you like.

The jumbo shrimp were perfectly fried in a tempura-like batter, and was some of the best we’d ever had.

The whole fried catfish was lightly battered and fried, the meat was mild and flaky, and came off the bone easily.

The hush puppies were a combination of corn meal and flour, and fried perfectly.

We will definitely stop again on our next trip through!

The service and atmosphere was fantastic. The staff was pleasant, upbeat, informational. The atmosphere was what you’d expect for a country fish restaurant with a great view of the river. The food: We had the frog legs, onion rings, Cajun catfish, and deviled crab, and the fried green tomatoes. The salads we had were actually very good, they used real bacon crumbles. Though the temperature of the food was perfect and well cooked, what this place needs is a chef who knows spices. None of the fried food was salted and they used no herbs. I’ve had great frog legs; not seen often in restaurants, you’d expect a level up in flavor for the places that do serve it. The batter was bland and the meat was even blander.

I hope they find someone who can add salt and get the food to incredible because I think this place has amazing potential.

Worth the drive ( which is very scenic). Excellent customer service. Very nice atmosphere. Family friendly. Please check the online menu for all selections. Appetizers. Salads. Catfish. Ribs. Chicken, etc. Huge portions; very shareable! If you order the Whole Catfish, please note that it is 4 whole catfish!!! ( I found out afterwards, that you can order a half portion). The two filets are gigantic too. The baked sweet potato was delicious; served with brown sugar and butter. The baked potato was cooked perfectly- fluffy. The salad dressings are homemade. The coleslaw is interesting- you add however much salad dressing you want to add- it’s sweet. Overall, excellent place to eat with great service, friendly staff and delicious food.

Overall a great experience!

The Catfish Hotel is the go-to spot for catfish and good vittles in the Shiloh area.

Firstly, the restaurant and grounds are impressive. A neat building, plenty of parking on the banks of the Tennessee River! Just beautiful.

Secondly, you are greeted with a smile and they are truly glad you are dining with them. Service is excellent and genuine.

Thirdly, you will not leave hungry. It’s lots of food, prepared well.

For those going for the first time, be advised the Cole slaw is not a traditional mayo, sweet slaw. It’s chopped cabbage and carrots served with a side of dressing of your choice. Also, the dressing are varied and unique. The 1,000 island is a touch sweeter than you expect. The ranch is excellent.

The hush puppies are basic hush puppies no surprises with corn, onions or sugar.

The onion rings are amazing! You get a crispy mountain of rings! These are worth the trip. They sold out of the bloomin’ onions by 6:00 pm on the 4th. My imagination says these are excellent as well.

The whole fried catfish is seasoned well, fried right and is served sliced so the meat pulls right away from the bone. If you are not used to whole, bone-in fish the flavor is stronger than filets. The filets are great! Thick, seasoned and fried crispy.

Baked sweet potato is perfect and served with butter and brown sugar on the side.

They also have baked potatoes and fries.

Side salads are fresh.

They also have an assortment of fried items; shrimp, clams and deviled crabs. In addition, Burgers, chicken and even picky eaters can find a menu item to satisfy.

Overall a great experience. We will return!

This is one of the few restaurants that has lived up to every review or story. The fish and hush puppies are delicious. If you are a fan of blue cheese, be sure to order it. It is made there and it is the best I have ever eaten.

PHENOMENAL!!

Grabbed lunch here with family this week and it was outstanding!! What an awesome oasis of fried catfish and other scrumptious food in the middle of nowhere!

Located on the banks of the the Tennessee River near Shiloh National Park, this family restaurant, which I think used to be a hotel many years ago, has a quaint charm to go along with the standard southern hospitality locals are used to.

Three of us had the catfish filets with salads, fries, baked potatoes, and their legendary hush puppies. And when they call them legendary, it’s for a reason. The hush puppies are LEGIT.

One of my cousins (younger) had the chicken tenders and left no doubt. They came with Krinkle fries as well!

He charm, service, atmosphere, and scenery were on point. You don’t want to miss this place, friend.
