A great choice for a casual, authentic Mexican fare. The complimentary chips come served with a thin, tasty and warm salsa. Their seafood ceviche is tomato-ey and flavorful, served with lots of shrimp and a large tostada. I personally love their tostadas and they’re stacked with beans, choice of meat, cabbage avocado, and sour cream. Two of these are easily a meall! They make excellent micheladas with choice of beer. It’s easily one of my favorite places in Kenner, and I love supporting our immigrant neighbors who’ve brought color, flavor, vibrancy and culture to our suburban enclave!

Loud Music, Good Food, Lacking Service

Unfortunately, my visit to Chilangos in Kenner was more of a miss than a hit. While the food itself was actually pretty good, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.

The biggest issue? The music was way too loud. It was nearly impossible to hold a conversation, let alone relax and enjoy the meal. It felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant, which took away from what could have been a great dining atmosphere.

The wait staff also left much to be desired. Service was inattentive and slow, with long stretches of time between checking in, getting drinks, or even just being acknowledged. It really took away from the experience, especially considering how promising the food was.

Chilangos has potential—there’s clearly care put into the kitchen. But unless the noise level is toned down and the service improves, it’s not a place I’d be quick to return to.

My first time eating at this restaurant. The food was OK. It was not great by any means. The waiters was fine and the atmosphere was fine as well. Whatever I return probably not. I will try somewhere else. I think the food did not taste really bad, but it did not taste like it. Had that much seasoning on it. On the fajita, the steak had a lot of fat on it and the chicken had a lot of tenants or somewhat on it. It was a lot chewy. It was hard to get a good bite of it and swallow it. It felt like I was swallowing a big booger. I had to sit there and poke a bunch of it off, and somehow eat the rest of each piece.

This a hidden of Latin food in Kenner! Great place to celebrate with friends and coworkers! Great drinks and foods! Their appetizers board is amazing! And their steak tacos is delicious! And for all the people who like spicy ️ food! They have two great in-house made sauces! The only thing is the service can be slow at times.

Stopped on a Monday afternoon, not many customers inside. Got some chips and salsa, and a small dip bowl of I think mole, or pureed frijoles???? The salsa was bad. Pureed tomatos or some bad canned salsa. No onion, garlic or jalapeno. Pretty tasteless. The mole was better, but still not great. Had a horchata, tasty.
THE FOOD: Ordered a lengua taco, and Bistek ala Mexicana.
The lengua was just ok. Tortilla good, Cilantro and onion. The bistec itself was good. Not too much meat, but had good flavor and the sauce had a good kick. The rice wasn’t good, the frijoles were passable. Overall, kind of disappointed. I had heard good things about this restaurant.

Horrible service to black people. Me my mom and a friend came to chilangos for taco Tuesday and when we came in they acted like they didn’t want to serve us. I asked for the $5 frozen margarita and received this watery half filled plastic cup. Then as we were eating our meal, the server came up by our table mopping. She first hit my feet with the mop and didn’t say anything. Then she started sweeping the trash under our table. I asked her if she could wait until we were done and she said no and continued mopping. She was very disrespectful and had an attitude. She went and told other employees who stood there staring at us the whole time and she kept trying to argue back and forth with me . No apology, no compensation, the whole staff were rude and racist!

OMG the food was extremely good. I would never ever eat at Taco Bell or any other non authentic Mexican restaurant again. I had so much food for $20. I’m up eating leftovers now. My son food was about the same price, but he added extra fried shrimp to his platter. And even he said the food was amazing.
