Made a spur of the moment decision to stop and eat dinner at Abuelo’s near Hulen Mall on Jan 30, 2026. We had not been to this Abuelo’s location in several years. Our experience was satisfying and our expectations were most definitely exceeded on this visit!

Service: First and foremost, shout out to Alexandra for taking exceptional care of us! She was kind, checked on us often and kept the drinks and chips coming. Well done and thank you again! Ask for her when you visit.

Food: The food came out hot, was flavorful and the portion size seemed reasonable for what you’re paying. Our only “complaint” was the queso diablo we ordered wasn’t super spicy, but it still tasted great.

Cost: It does feel like eating out is becoming more and more pricey. We spent $67 for queso diablo, a two-enchilada plate, a three-enchilada plate, sprite, water and tip. About $35 a person. That’s hard to swallow if we ate out frequently, but thankfully between the quality of the food and the fantastic service from Alexandra, this time around the money spent was worth it.

Overall: 4.75 ⭐️

Go visit Abuelo’s near Hulen Mall for some great Mexican food!

Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant in Fort Worth was a hit! We started with the chips and salsa trio (each one flavorful) and added the queso creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned. For our entrée, we shared the Fajita Combo for two with four meats: grilled chicken, tender steak, and double shrimp. The meats were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor.

The sides sealed the deal fresh flour tortillas, mashed potatoes, Mexican rice, Cilantro lime rice, and black beans. Everything came out hot and fresh. The service was friendly, and servers even came from other tables to check on us (love that teamwork).

No wait time, great location right at the front of Hulen Mall, and food worth coming back for. I’ll definitely return to this location and check out other Abuelo’s restaurants too!

I really enjoyed this Mexican restaurant — the plates were so flavorful. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the lively atmosphere makes it a fun place to eat.

Great food and we had the most fantastic service! LaDera was an absolute gem of a blessing. We were so well taken care.
The food was delicious, the portions are very generous. We had the fajita feast special. The chicken and steak fajitas were delicious and tender. Do yourself a favor and go here to eat!

Edit: Fajita pic- great portion but we’d already eaten some also, the stuffed shrimp appetizer, delicious. The pineapple salsa…man!!! Yes, please! I only wished we lived closer.

Food was really nice, but they wouldn’t celebrate our sons birthday. That was a disappointment as it’s the reason for us dining out that evening.
The Tres Leches Cake was the least favourite for all.of us.

Yusef was an amazing server. I passed him on my way into the mall and he was absolutely pleasant (before I knew where he worked – just a nice man being authentically nice with an adorable Bluey santa cap). I came back out with my purchases and decided to stop and eat. There he was waiting on my table. Every member of staff I encountered was kind and helpful and seemed like they enjoyed working here. Keondra also waited on my table and she was not only sweet but had amazing red glasses. The food was decent, but I got the tamale (something small), not anything on their good menu list (I would absolutely return to try them) Restaurant is quite clean and I like the faux fireplaces.

Kenzie was a phenomenal waiter!!! Attentive and personable. The food was delicious
We chose the family meal for $49 that included w portions of rice and beans 6 enchiladas and a sizzling skillet of fajitas with all the fixings. Enough to feed a family of 4-5. It was just my husband and myself so we had plenty of leftovers to take home which was nice. Such a reasonable price for the food and service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My order was incomplete and what we received was almost inedible. One of the plates was supposed to contain a enchilada, a crispy taco, and a tamale but there was no taco. He rated this tamale as the worst he’d ever had. We’ve been married for over 25 years and that seemed unlikely but after discussion he maintained that it was the second worst enchilada. His enchilada, all three of my enchiladas, and both enchiladas in the third plate for chewy, as though they had all been microwaved. To be clear, I grew up making homemade tortillas and these weren’t “chewy good” they were “chewy nasty.” All of the enchiladas. Your company should be ashamed to serve food like this for the prices you’re charging. I gave them * * * for atmosphere trying to be fair because we had it delivered and I have no idea what the atmosphere is like and that’s a middle of the road rating. I don’t expect all Mexican food to be like what I grew up with or even like real Mexican food, real Tex-Mex, or real Cali-Mex, but for $15-25 per plate I expect something that is of a higher quality than what I’m likely to find in a hospital cafeteria. Abuelo’s does NOT deliver. This is a classic example of style over substance.
