Our dine-in experience was pretty good! It was a busy evening, but we were seated within about 10 minutes. To start, we ordered the mac and cheese bites. They were decent — not the best we’ve ever had, but they satisfied our appetite and got the meal started. For our main course, my mom and I both had the bacon cheeseburgers, and they were delicious. The burgers had that fresh-off-the-grill flavor, the toppings were crisp and fresh, and the patties were thick and juicy — very filling! My stepdad ordered the boneless wings special and unfortunately wasn’t a fan; he said they were a bit cold and soggy.
The atmosphere inside was great, with plenty of TVs — perfect if you want to catch a game. The menu was impressive too, offering a wide variety of options for everyone. Plus, our waitress was fantastic — friendly and attentive.
A couple of days later, after my surgery, we ordered carryout from here. The pickup process was quick and easy. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of broccoli — and honestly, the broccoli was surprisingly good! Some of the best I’ve had from a restaurant. The grilled chicken sandwich was delicious too — I’d definitely order it again. My mom tried the Hanson mushroom burger this time and enjoyed it just as much as her previous burger, though she still wasn’t a big fan of the mac and cheese. My stepdad got the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and was much happier with it compared to the wings from earlier in the week.
Overall, this place became a little staple for us during my time in Cleveland. We’d definitely come back the next time we’re in town!
This was my first time at the Beachwood Winking Lizard, though I’ve passed by the Mentor location for years. The atmosphere here was warm and friendly, and our server was very professional and courteous throughout our visit.
That said, the service was noticeably slow, which took away from the overall experience a bit.
I ordered the slider basket with onion rings. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give it a solid 5—maybe a 6. It was definitely a generous portion for the price, and you won’t leave hungry. The food quality was about what I’d expect from a typical family bar: decent, but nothing that stood out.
Overall, it’s a good casual spot if you’re not in a rush and just want a relaxed, no-frills meal.
The specials are really good with the cost of eating out going through the roof. The beer selecting is top notch with plenty to choose from.
The burger night specials are really good with multiple options to choose from, and each one is a good option.
I used to frequent the Lizard locations in the Columbus area a lot. (I still have my 100 beer tour coat from over a decade ago) My favorite locations closed and moved and the experience was never close so I stopped going.
The Beachwood site brought back all the good memories of why I used to love the Lizard.
Go and you will have a good time. I can be crowded so be patient, as we know, crowded is a sign of a good place to be.
