The catfish was cooked to perfection with a crisp, golden coating and a tender, juicy center that tasted incredible. Every bite was full of rich flavor and freshness. Several people at our table mentioned how clear it was that the fish was authentic and high quality. It was an outstanding dish and easily one of the highlights of our meal.

The food was rich in flavor and more than enough to share. We ordered a combo plate with two kinds of meat, and the slow-cooked rack was so tender it practically slipped right off the bone. The chicken was truly outstanding and easily a highlight of the meal!

Great place for a solid no frills lunch. The barbecue is excellent and the catfish is hard to beat. The hush puppies are amazing.

Old style restaurant with very friendly staff. Service was excellent and attentive. Had different sauce for the meals. Hush puppies brought to table when we sat and were excellent. Enjoyed going each time we go.

The fried shrimp is the best in the area!
The hush puppies and white sauce are addictive! Onion rings, BBQ, catfish, all of the food here is great!! Don’t leave without getting a fried pie to take home with you and the soft serve ice cream only costs a quarter!
One of my favorite restaurants❤️

“GOOD EATIN’!”
On Thursday, July 3, 2025, our group of six adults gathered at the Greenbrier Restaurant in Madison, Alabama, for meal.
All six of us ordered the small catfish fillets meal. (And, we also ordered one additional meal for someone who couldn’t join us there at the restaurant.)
The catfish was wonderfully prepared, golden-brown, crunchy outside, moist inside, and just absolutely DELICIOUS! (Also, several people in our party were quick to point out that it was REAL catfish!)
In addition to the catfish, my sides included: coleslaw, a sweet potato, and a corn dog. (Of course, I also ordered a beverage.)
I also really liked their coleslaw, which reminded me of the kind that I had at a different restaurant when I was very young.
Thanks to your entire team at Greenbrier Restaurant in Madison, Alabama, for a very enjoyable dining experience.

Got to be one of the oldest restaurants in Huntsville. But it has the best fried fish shrimp and hush puppies. And on top of that they even have barbecue. Got to be one of the best places to eat in town.

Barbecue and fried catfish on the same plate? YES, please. The catfish filets are lightly coated and fried perfectly, crispy outside and soft and juicy inside. Add the pork sauce to the barbecue. It compliments the smoky flavor, adds some moisture and sharpness. Add a bite of the slaw to the pork for a zesty crunch. The hushpuppies are a great difference maker. Perfectly fried and served as an appetizer, they’re really delicious and you get as many as you want. Definitely a destination.

About 20 years ago I was introduced to Greenbrier barbecue and Alabama white sauce for the 1st time. This visit, due to logistics, was the 1st time I’ve been back since then and I must say, it’s just as good now as it was then. I arrived for an early lunch and was promptly greeted by a server and sat down. Since it had been a while I wanted to try a sample of everything so I got the sample platter with pork and chicken. I was served hush puppies as an appetizer and there were a handful of sauces on the table to enjoy them with. Barbecue sauce, Alabama white sauce, tartar sauce and the ketchup. I’m not a huge fan of hush puppies so I’m usually pretty picky if I do eat them. These were tasty.. Light cooked very well and not greasy. The smoked chicken was beautiful. Perfect crispy skin, beautiful color and with the white sauce it was absolutely amazing. I would come here just for the chicken. Fries were golden and crispy perfectly done and the pulled pork was moist, tender and delicious. The location is only a few miles off the interstate but well worth the drive. I am a 100% sure it will not be as long before my next visit.

Nice country restaurant. I visited here a bunch way back in 1987 and I was in the area and stopped in for a bite. It was good in 198& and it’s still good today. Nice waitresses and owner talked to me for a few minutes about how the town has changed and etc. I highly recommend the catfish. Very good slaw and baked potatoes.
