Akita Hibachi Sushi & Bar is truly a great dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The hibachi show is entertaining and adds a special touch to the evening, making it more than just dinner it’s an experience. The atmosphere is lively, welcoming, and enjoyable.
Be prepared for some wait time, especially during busy hours. That was the only uncomfortable part, but once seated, the experience made up for it.
I also appreciate going to places where there is no pressure regarding tips. While they provide suggested gratuity amounts on the receipt, the staff does not pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable. In Texas, tipping is not legally mandatory it is voluntary and based on the customer’s satisfaction. I personally value businesses that respect that distinction and allow customers to decide freely.
Overall, excellent food, great entertainment, and a pleasant environment. Definitely a place worth visiting, and I will be back

Came here for a friend’s birthday not knowing what to expect. The salad was delicious I’m not sure what kind of dressing they used but I definitely cleaned the bowl. I hate onions but the onion soup was also very good would eat again. I got shrimp fried rice and a friend got some type of sushi rolls with a shrimp in it and eel sauce. I also got a lemon drop that was so strong I couldn’t finish it but I would definitely return again.

Portions were crazy for the price. For $20.02 I should be getting at least a single portion amount of steak. 9 little pieces is not enough for an adult. Sauces were tasteless, steak had zero fat, and the fried rice was over oiled.

Usually they’re pretty good, this last time not so much. I went as soon as they opened which may have contributed to my dissatisfaction. The salad was wilted and brown, the Salmon was smaller in size, and my vegetables were not the standard mix. All in all give it a try to see for yourself, but be aware of the times when you go.

My sister and I went today for lunch. The food was great. I give great tips; even when the food is not so great. However, I typically pay tips in CASH because I don’t won’t my card charged after I’m gone. I spent over $75. After my sister and I dined and I paid for my to go order, the waiter came up to me and said- my tip was not included. I said is it MANDATORY. He said, no but I make minimum wage. I said, I was going to leave you a tip in cash, However, I think it’s rude to come to a customer to ask for a tip. I requested to speak with the owner. He said the tip wasn’t MANDATORY, but if you dine in, the expectation is to tip his waiter, BECAUSE HE PAYS HIM MINIMUM WAGE. I said, my tip doesn’t reflect the fact that you don’t honor your employees and pay them more than minimum wage. He said that if I didn’t like it, that I could carry out or not dine there at all. I agree with him wholeheartedly. He said it’s the “culture”. I asked what that meant? He said he no longer wanted to discuss it and I could leave. Bottom line- customer service is paramount. Great customer service should be the standard and as I stated, I typically leave $10-20 in tips as I get the fact that he may make very little money, but to ask me for the tip as if demanding it, is poor business practice. Never to return
Doing it for the culture!!!!! Whatever that meant. In times like these, people should be more respectful of the fact that a customer even patronizes their business..
Ungrateful to say the least

I had an extremely upsetting experience at this location.

I ordered one hibachi steak and chicken along with the shared plate for $8, which is clearly listed on the menu. I repeated my order multiple times to the waiter to make sure there was no confusion. When we received the check, we were overcharged.

When I asked to speak with the owner/manager to resolve the issue, he was very rude, dismissive, and aggressive. He told me the shared plate could not be $8 ( despite it being on the menu )and raised his voice at me instead of calmly explaining or correcting the mistake. I explained that we had budgeted specifically for our date night and did not have extra funds, but he continued to tell me to “pay and get away.”

I felt embarrassed, disrespected, and unheard. The way the situation was handled made me feel uncomfortable and brought me to tears. I truly believe that if I were treated with basic courtesy and professionalism, this could have been resolved easily.

I will never return to this location and will be sharing my experience with others. No customer should ever be made to feel small or dismissed over a billing issue especially when the price is listed on the menu.

I left feeling disrespected and treated unfairly. The interaction made me feel uncomfortable and discriminated against, which is not acceptable in any customer-facing business.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Akita Hibachi and Sushi for over 10 years, but unfortunately this experience has brought that loyalty to an end due to consistently poor service and ineffective management.
On this visit, the restaurant was completely empty. I had ordered carryout ahead of time because I was limited on time. When I arrived, I asked to eat my order at the bar and was told I could not—despite there being no customers, no wait, and plenty of open seating.
There was no attempt to accommodate, explain reasonably, or offer a solution. Just a flat refusal. After a decade of patronage, this level of inflexibility and disregard for customers is unacceptable.
Good food alone isn’t enough to make up for horrible service and poor management decisions. Longtime customers deserve better.

On 06/22- I placed an order over the phone for pick up. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass 6 OZ Hibachi for $42.99. Over the phone the staff member was helpful, however while picking up my food, I noticed that the young man at the front door was sarcastic about the tip he received. He gave a smirk, rolled his eyes and said thanks. Interestingly enough the young lady that assisted me did the same. Entitled I say. Customer Service truly can make or break a restaurant…also clean bathrooms but I digress. The sea bass was mediocre at best. To be honest, I was disappointed and wish i had defrosted what I had and cooked it myself. Everything was fresh and I appreciated that. It came with mixed vegetables, I chose steam rice over fried, soup and salad. One thing I can say is about the soup. It is not the true hibachi mushroom soup that I love. It was more of just a clear broth or onion soup that lacked flavor. I’ve been here before…this is why I gave it a three. Hopefully, I will have a better experience.

Let me be honest and start by saying that I’ve never actually dined in, but I look forward to doing so very soon. The service when I walk in to place an order has always been a pleasant experience. This is also how I’m aware that the atmosphere is very inviting because they’re always busy anytime I’ve walked in to place my order for takeout. Today, I actually ordered online, which was also very easy to do, and you can still customize your order. I’ve never had an issue with my order, it’s is always exactly how I order it. The portions are nice size for the price and they give you enough to get full. My go-to spot in the Cedar Hill/surrounding area for good fried rice. When I dine in for Hibachi, I plan to have the salmon. If you’ve been wondering about this place, I’d give them a try. It’s worth the time and the money.
