This restaurant is a staple in Richardson. The environment is great and very homey geeling. Our server Aleydis was amazing! She was warm and social as if shed known us for years. Expectations definitely met and exceeded. Great chips, queso, and drinks. Will be returning asap.

Service is more authentic than the food. Was excited to try, saw a ton of awards as we walked in so decided to try something basic and something specific to the restaurant. First, chips and salsa lack luster, expected one if not both of these to be homemade for the posted accolades but both were off the shelf. Queso was ok, definitely hot which I appreciated. Tacos Al carbon were disappointing, first they were not hot. Flavor was ok I bet hot would have been pretty good. The MOST disappointing were the store bought tortillas, everyone knows that very specific store bought smell, I didn’t eat them. Rice was ok, beans were decent but a bit bitter for cooking too long. Husband got the pollo guisado which was the special today. This one I was excited about because why put something like that on the menu if you don’t do it well. Flavor was good, squash and corn in a somewhat salsa verde but the chicken was a literal afterthought. I understood it when I saw it. They put this on the menu to avoid wasting day old chicken. There was nothing “stewed” about the chicken, it was chunks added to the stew, disappointing.
Very clearly the service is the highlight and to the restaurant’s credit why change the food when they can hang their hat on the service. Won’t be retuning but yall enjoy.

We have been coming here for a while and it’s always a great experience! Emi abda Veto at the bar are amazing! The manager Tony here is great, I can see why he has an amazing team. The stuffed jalapeños are so good, it’s my favorite food. The margaritas are so good and $3 ONLY on Wednesdays!

Where do I begin.. We decided to try this place out to catch up with a group of friends and we were not disappointed. The manager Chris greeted us with a smile and was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of at the end. The margaritas were AMAZING!!! Kudos to the bartender!! Our server was so sweet and we never had to ask for anything. The salsa you can tell is made fresh and I’m a girl who loves a good salsa with my marg! Everyone enjoyed their food. Overall my experience at Desperados was great and we will definitely be back for more!

It was our first time but definitely won’t be our last! The kids had fun getting gum balls for a free sopapilla and kids meal. $5 kids meal is hard to beat too! The desperados tacos and margarita were worth the hype and my husband got the chicken San Lorenzo and loved it. Excellent service and food was amazing

Desperados is a regular weeknight Tex-Mex spot for us. It has a cozy neighborhood feel and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had there. Their queso is solid, and they have excellent beef fajita nachos and stuffed jalapenos. I love their soft cheese tacos and cheese enchiladas. They have a unique and delicious chili relleno. It’s not done in the traditional style with an egg white batter, but rather with a fried coating and has raisins, which are unexpected but work. They have standard Tex-Mex Mex red rice and refried beans. The chips and salsa are mid but enjoyable. They have a really nice bean soup that reminds me of charro beans that is served with some dishes. They have a wide selection of dishes including steak and seafood. There really is something for everyone.
This is the sort of spot for a laidback reliable Tex-Mex favorites meal, so I rated it for that. The food isn’t imaginative and doesn’t claim to be. It’s homey food that hits the spot. This is where we go when we don’t want to drive to Mariano’s, but want reasonably priced Tex-Mex.
Service is good and not annoyingly overattentive. I’ve been countless times and never had an issue. The atmosphere is casual cozy with Tex-Mex accoutrements for decor. There is a small covered patio facing the parking lot.
In addition to meals out with my husband, we’ve had two smaller events where we’ve reserved the back room. One was a graduation party, and one was a large family gathering after a funeral. I don’t believe they charged us for the room, but had a reasonable minimum for use. Both events went very smoothly and everyone enjoyed the food and service. Each event was 20-30 people I believe. I very much recommend it for small events, and plan to use them again in the future.

Been coming here avg 40-45+ weekends a year for last 3 years with my cousin and many airbnb guests and friends from out of town. All love the atmosphere, the drinks and the food. Never had complaints and one friend from Miami wanted to eat here 3x in 4 day visit haha. The staff over and above and main reason we keep coming back besides the great prices and tasty menu!!!

On top of that, the service was outstanding. Ramon was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. I went to desperados and ordered Steak Argentina with a margarita. The food was really good and came out fast and the atmosphere was very welcoming and the waitress was super informative and nice. The manager on duty also made sure to come up to the table to check to see how I was doing. Overall my experience was great I can’t wait to go back
