During our recent visit to the city, we chose this establishment for an early luncheon, and it proved to be an excellent decision.
Restaurant:
This is an authentic Mexican restaurant featuring extensive Mexican decor. The restaurant is situated adjacent to Jackson Lake, offering a picturesque view. While we opted for indoor seating, the outdoor seating area is truly exceptional.
Service :
The staff, including the front hostess and our waiter, provided exceptional service.
Upon being seated, we were presented with chips and salsa.
Food :
I selected option #3, which included a taco, a burrito, and an enchilada.
My wife selected the chicken taco salad, and my mother-in-law chose the steak fajitas. All dishes were delicious and generously portioned.
Overall, I would unequivocally assign a 5 out of 5-star rating.

We stopped at Don Jose’s for lunch today. It was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly. The beans were fresh and delicious! I had the chicken encillada with green sauce and cheese! Carlos, our waiter was outstanding! Our hostess accommodated our wish to sit by the window overlooking the lake. The flan was perfect with a Carmel sauce! What a great dining experience!

Great place! The food is hot and fresh. The service is wonderful. I would like to comment the server assistant “Michael”. He went above and beyond taking care of us. So nice to see a young man doing great work. He was very friendly, had excellent manners, always smiling and provided great customer service. People will always give bad reviews/ complaints but rarely commend. He deserves to be acknowledged.

Our first time here and definitely not our last! The food was amazing, our waiter was stopping by a couple times to make sure we didn’t need anything. Couldn’t ask for a better meal. I would highly recommend this place. It was a chilly night so ate inside but can’t wait to go back and sit outside on their patio overlooking the lake. I had the chicken enchiladas and very very good, seasoned chicken with a red sauce served with beans and rice. I definitely walked or should I say “waddled” lol…out the door, excellent food and service. There was four of us and we all extremely enjoyed our meal!

12/17 – dinner with my friend. I had the Chile Rellenos, they were good.
11/24 – Solo dinner at the bar. Salmon Serrano and fried ice cream for dessert.
7/14 – dinner with the gang! So much fun.
I had the Shrimp Guadalajara, really good and a nice portion. I broke from my traditional drinks and had a “Maria Maria” it was nice. My friend had a Dragon fruit margarita – looked good! May have to try that next…
6/7 – Shrimp Serrano – very good, love the peppers and mushrooms.
5/27 – Salmon Veracruz – wow! Really nice dish and piece of fish. I will get this again.
5/5/25 Cinco! It was the busiest I’ve ever seen this place, lol. But the service, food and speed of service was still great!
I had the shrimp fajitas – really good but I’m not a fan of the tails still on the shrimp when served for this type of dish.
9/4 back for dinner. We sat outside in the screen room, so nice. I had the Chicken San Antonio, it was good.
5/26 i had the ceviche, different than normal ceviche but it’s really good, more salad like, love the avocado, plenty of shrimp and fish in there.

4/21 back for shrimp arceo – it was good!
2/21 back at the bar for dinner. I tried the chicken Arizona and it was marvelous! Definitely recommend. Also i got to try the chicken soup, now normally i would not order this at a Mexican restaurant, i will say I was completely surprised and amazed how good it was! So good, i took it home!
2/16 dinner @ the bar. I tried the Shrimp Enchiladas at the recommended of the bartender, it was another really great dish!
This place is amazing, the Chefs really care about the art of food. So consistently good over the last 15+ years I’ve been eating here. Service is always good.
2/10 @ the bar for dinner. I tried the Shrimp Salsa Verde and it was really good!
Along with 2:1 Margaritas and the best chips & salsa, it was a great night.
2/7/24 @ the bar. Late snack and 2:1 marg!
I got the chicken quesadilla. Now i was so hungry that i forgot to take the photo before eating… But I’ll say, they were very good & i would get them again.
A perfect amount for something to eat late night and with drinks.
10/25 back at the bar for a late dinner -great food again. Nice to see Turn 2 beer available here.

We had a great experience at Don Jose’s. The steak Rio Grande and shrimp Guadalajara were delicious, and our service from Michael made the experience even better. He was fantastic and kept our table refreshed at all times! Thanks for a great meal and service

Food was only “C” BUT room was soo cold (about 45 – 50°) food & coffee got cold before we were half done. Spoke with manager who declared heat was on full force but had his hands in his pockets to keep warm. Was charged $2 extra per plate for exchange of red sauce to white sauce. Was not worth $60 meal for two. We will never be back. We have no complaints with our server.
