First impressions matter and unfortunately, ours missed the mark.

On a busy Sunday morning, we decided to finally stop in and try Harrison House Diner in Mullica Hill, a place we’ve passed many times and were curious to experience. As expected, the diner was crowded with the beautiful weather and weekend crowd.

When we walked in, we noticed there was a wait. Since it was just two of us, we politely asked if we could sit at the individual counter seats that were open, but we were told we still had to be placed on the general waitlist for the entire restaurant. While we understood the restaurant was busy, the interaction at the host stand felt unwelcoming and lacking basic customer service.

After about 20 minutes, we were eventually seated in a booth.

Our waitress, Vicki, was the bright spot of the visit. She was pleasant, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Our food also came out fairly quickly, which we appreciated.

The food itself was mixed:
• The eggs were good.
• The fries could have been hotter.
• The pancakes were the biggest disappointment. They were very dry, fell apart easily, and did not taste fresh almost as if they had been sitting or reheated. I couldn’t even finish them.

When we were checking out, we mentioned that the pancakes seemed dry when asked how everything was, but the feedback was largely brushed off.

We always enjoy trying local diners and supporting long standing family establishments. Unfortunately, based on this experience, the visit was about an 2 out of 10, and it’s unlikely we’ll be returning.

We wish Harrison House Diner the best going forward, but hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.

We had a disappointing dinner tonight at Harrison House. I didn’t eat and sent back my house salad. It was soggy and left MUCH to be desired. I asked to add croutons and the server forgot. My husband’s sandwich was supposed to be cold with Russian dressing. Instead it was hot with no Russian dressing. When we asked for the dressing, we were brought French instead. We are usually pleased if not very pleased with Harrison House so will consider this an aberration.

Sometimes pleasant quick service, sometimes they seat you and forget about you!

Good food, plenty of parking in a convenient location on 322 heading to the Shore. Diner vibes with diner food and plenty of dessert choices.

Had a Ruben with tasty crispy fries.

If you drive a big rig there’s plenty of parking behind the building down in an adjacent lot.

Overall a pretty disappointing experience. Our waitress seemed extremely frazzled or just too busy to answer basic questions, and when I asked if we could add an appetizer she gave me noticeable attitude about it. It also took a very long time to get drink refills, which made the whole visit feel neglected. Unfortunately the food didn’t make up for it either. I ordered the fish and chips and it was honestly pretty inedible. The mozzarella sticks were also a letdown—Wawa’s hot case ones are genuinely better than what was served here. Hoping this was just an off night, but based on this visit it wasn’t a great experience.

Last year I took my family of 14 to supper here for a get together where everyone could order whatever they wanted and no clean up. I treated.
Everyone enjoyed it so much that we went there again mid April only this time we were 20. A delightful day, excellent food and good family fun. They were thoughtful enough to have a table set up for ice, wine and beer glasses and corkscrew. I brought the wine and beer and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was my granddaughter’s birthday so I ordered a large slice of each of their 10 different cakes with one slice served with a birthday candle. A totally delicious treat with plenty left over. I paid the bill left a great tip and drove home.
I highly recommend the Harrison House.

Great food with great customer service. Passed this place multiple times while delivering trucks, finally decided to stop in and I must say it was amazing. 10/10 the banana French toast is a must try.

I love to leave a great review. I leave plenty of great reviews, but today’s experience made that impossible.
The level of service that we received today was close to nonexistent.
We asked for waters/lemon for the table and when the water – with no lemon – arrived, one of the glasses was filthy. The water was tinted brown and you could see the sediment around the groove at the bottom of glass. When we asked for a new water, comparing the glass to the other glasses, our server told us that the glass was fine, making it quite awkward. We then kindly asked her to remove it and bring a replacement, but she walked away, leaving the glass there and did not return for 15 minutes. When she brought another water, it was pretty apparent that she brought back the same glass. My daughter had to request lemon from another server, who promptly brought a plate of lemon.
Our coffee cups sat empty.
She never came back to ask how everything was, which is normal practice. My husband and I both ordered the Country Eggs Benedict, but received regular Eggs Benedict; and when we brought it to her attention, it was met with a blank stare with no intention of resolving the issue. I had to end the awkward silence with, “well I guess I’ll box it up and maybe someone else will eat it.” She responded with, thank you and an unconvincing, “sorry about that.”
We had to ask someone else for coffee refills. It was kind of the last straw. When we asked to speak to a manager, which is very uncommon for us, no one ever came to the table.
When I paid the check, and was asked how everything was, I politely described our experience and that we were displeased. Again, it was met with a very insincere and dismissive, “sorry”.
I have to add that there is a balloon guy there named JoJo, who is absolutely fantastic. He was definitely the highlight of our experience!
It’s so disappointing to look forward to a nice Sunday breakfast with your family and receive poor service and a meal that you did not order.
It is understandable to have a less than stellar experience once in a while – and completely forgivable – but it is expected that management would show a higher level of concern when a customer brings it to their attention. We’ve had experiences where things have gone wrong, and the issue was met with sincere apology. We’ve gone back to those places and I’ve wound up leaving a great review.
For a diner that has been in business for as long as the Harrison house, I would expect a better level of service. Maybe they take the large amount of business that they get for granted?
I can honestly say that we will never, ever go back. There are far too many other places to have a great breakfast, and receive a great level of service.

Great atmosphere! The food was okay just a little more needed seasoning. And the Strawberry Shortcake was a bit bland but nothing to complain about. I can’t wait to return to try something new!

Can’t beat a classic American diner on a gloomy day to make you feel like you’re in a Pulp Fiction movie.

The BLT sandwich was perfect.

Service from the wait staff was top notch.

Would come here again to try the key lime pie!
