Sauce on the Blue: A True Silverthorne Gem
If you find yourself winding through Summit County looking for a dining experience that perfectly balances mountain charm with sophisticated flavors, look no further than Sauce on the Blue. Often described by locals as a “hidden gem,” this spot manages to capture a specific kind of magic that many resort-town restaurants miss.
Atmosphere & Vibe
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable evening. It strikes that elusive chord between upscale Italian bistro and cozy mountain lodge. Whether you’re seated in the warm, wood-accented dining room or out on the patio during the summer months, the vibe is consistently energetic yet intimate. The restaurant sits right along the Blue River, and the sound of the water provides a serene backdrop that makes you feel miles away from the hustle of the nearby shopping outlets.
The Experience
The service is attentive without being overbearing, contributing to the “neighborhood favorite” feel. It’s the kind of place where you feel just as comfortable celebrating an anniversary in a dress shirt as you do grabbing a post-skiing meal in your favorite sweater.
Why It’s a Must-Visit
What truly makes it a hidden gem is the consistency. While many tourist-heavy spots rely on their location, Sauce on the Blue relies on quality. The menu is a thoughtful tribute to Italian cuisine, but the great vibe is what keeps people coming back. It’s a place that feels like a secret you’re lucky to have been let in on—a warm, inviting sanctuary with a view that is second to none in Silverthorne. If you want a meal that feels like a destination in itself, this is it.

Great Restaurant to eat, drink, and ENJOY in Silverthorn. If you like Brussel sprouts the appetizer is AMAZING and a Good portion size at that. The hard cider on the menu I had was good and they have a Huge FULL Bar ready to appease your adult beverage needs. The chicken Marsala my friend had looked Great and she says it was. I took off one little star and debated doing so because my gluten free pizza was Alright But Not Great. The sausage on it seemed a bit over cooked and the thin crust was a little charred.
The chocolate dessert cake is rich and tasty, one sufficed for two people.
Don’t get me wrong on this critique, Sauce on the Blue is Good and worth the visit, so Go drink, eat, and ENJOY!!

The food was good, our server was nice, but seemed to be quick to rush off elsewhere rather than talk to us too much, but it was a little busy so we understand. She checked on us and did her job perfectly so we’re satisfied. I cant remember her name though. And the atmosphere was cozy and modern which I always appreciate a good atmosphere. I’d definitely come back if I lived in the area.

We enjoyed our meal at this nice sit-down Italian restaurant. I would especially recommend the fried calamari! It was crispy and well-seasoned and there was a lot of calamari. The service was friendly and the dining environment was nice too. They were super busy when we went!

This restaurant has a lot of seating and the lady at the podium was really nice. The food was good but I can’t say I was overly impressed with it. I placed a to go order. It came out quickly and was still pretty hot when I got back to my hotel. I really liked the tomatoes and spinach in the pasta but the sauce seemed pretty bland and basic for $30 plus tax. There was also nothing else included with it like bread or a small salad. I did ask for chicken to be added and I could tell it was fresh cooked chicken breast. But again, it didn’t have a lot of flavor. I can’t say that I would return if not for my company paying for it. I did really like their staff, though. Both ladies I talked with were very helpful and sweet.

Hi Sauce!!
First of all what a beautiful restaurant. Nestled up against the Blue River. Thus….Sauce on Blue. Awesome patio too!!
We were staying at AirBNB about 7 miles away. We crew of 8 was tired. So we called to order TO GO. I had one with dairy allergies. During the call I was impressed with the seriousness they took the allergy.
We got there and even though they were packed our order was ready to go.
We got home and there was cheese on our non dairy order. Bummer.
Some of you are wondering why the five star review? Because of the way they handled and recovered from the mistake. Professional apologetic, and just wanting to make things right.
We did drive back and picked up the correct non dairy order.
I was impressed with Sauce!!!

Maybe we came on a bad day, because we had a very disappointing experience. Maybe the staff was over-extended? The hostess looked mad and annoyed when she sat us. It took 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Our server seemed to have a very large amount of tables and didn’t have much time to do a proper job. I got the Ravioli of the day which was lobster and shrimp. The ravioli was gummy, I did not taste any shrimp, and could only see maybe see a teaspoon of lobster (I think it was lobster??) in each ravioli. For a $44 plate of food it was extremely disappointing. It was plated nicely, but the best thing on my plate was the brussel sprouts. My kids didn’t eat their kids meals so since I was still hungry I ate some of their kids meal chicken parm. I liked the kids meal better. The atmosphere was beautiful with flowering baskets next to the river. I don’t blame the server for my experience, she tried to offer free dessert but by the end of the meal I wanted to just leave. We were not offered any other discounts. I didn’t ask for one, but we did tell the server the food was disappointing. If you are going to charge fine dining prices, the food should be better than Olive Garden.

A great little Italian place in Silverthorne with a beautiful outdoor seating area. Food was delicious, and staff was nice and attentive. The fried calamari and fried ravioli were fantastic apps. A family portion of pasta will get you twice as much food at a reasonable price.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant!! We went for my Mom’s 65th Birthday. My Dad got a margarita and my Mom and I got their Gin Fizz and they were strong and yummy. We informed the server, Julie (request her if she’s available!) that I have Celiac and she was INCREADIBLEY knowledgeable. We got the Sautéed Mussels and the basil cream was absolutely to DIE for! I would drink that sauce if I could. The muscles were.huge and there were about 6 total. We ordered the Organic Arugula and Spinach salad, family size and it was more than enough for three people. We got the gluten free Penne alla Vodka with scallops but they accidentally brought out chicken but brought out scallops as soon as we mentioned it! They treated my Mom to a dessert of her choice, she chose the flourless chocolate torte. Everything was fabulous!
