Located off of Woodruff Road in Greenville, SC, Green Tomato Buffet is a southern style, home- cooked, comfort food restaurant that aims to please every palate coming through the doors. The sides and meats are cooked fresh every morning, and the salad bar is prepped with care. The desserts are made from scratch and put out with intent. Every part of the buffet received endless attention in our 11 year old restaurant.

Went here for lunch on a workday. Very clean and cashier was super friendly and pleasant. The place is cute, fine for lunch or a quick dinner. The buffet has a lot of options, but the layout was a little odd with desserts right up front and in back.
Food was okay. Wasn’t the best food in Greenville, but certainly wasn’t bad. They are very heavy on the sauces though so if you don’t like that your options may be limited.
With a small tip I paid about $22 for everything. Not horrible since it is all you can eat.

I had another disappointing experience here and felt like I needed to finally say something. The attitude from the staff, especially at the front, was extremely rude and unwelcoming. One of the servers immediately tried to say her section was closed instead of simply helping or directing me politely. The energy from the staff felt very hostile, almost like they already had an issue before I even sat down.
What made it worse was the constant watching while I was fixing my plate. Multiple employees were standing around staring at customers’ plates and then said they were “making sure nobody steals food.” That makes absolutely no sense when customers already paid for the buffet. It felt uncomfortable and unnecessary.
On top of that, they charge an extra $5 for “excessive plates” even when the plates clearly have food on them, which seems unreasonable for a buffet setting.
The food quality is also not great. Many items taste like leftovers from previous days, the desserts are very limited and not appealing, and a lot of the food tastes canned rather than fresh. For a place that presents itself as serving soul food, it really doesn’t feel fresh or authentic.
Overall the customer service and food quality both need serious improvement. A restaurant experience should feel welcoming, not uncomfortable or watched the entire time.

Our server was Miss Jennetta & talk about somebody that automatically “feels like family” when you’re in their presence… that’s her.

First off let me say that I was a little put off when we stepped into the restaurant for reasons that I can’t explain. I can say that it was probably because of the way that the food looked that was on the buffet. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean. The food surprised me. I had the baked chicken cabbage and collard greens. Everything was good once I added salt and pepper. The baked chicken was flavorful and seasoned and so far my favorite. My family had stew beef, spaghetti, macaroni and cheese fried chicken among other food items. I probably would have tried more but I’m on a special diet where I’m eating clean for 7 days.
I’m looking forward to going back and tasting that fried chicken and fried fish. Stay tuned

I heard about this place from one of my customers, and I looked it up to see the reviews. So, I decided to take my dad and try it out. I am here to tell you that it is well worth the drive from Seneca. I really enjoyed every bite . I will definitely be back to eat there again. I was impressed how they greeted you as you came in, and explained how everything worked. We had a very friendly waitress who made sure we had enough to drink, and kept the empty plates off the table. Kudos to everyone working there.

We’ve lived in Greenville for over a year and just now discovered this place, and the only disappointment is that we didn’t try it sooner. We had driven by plenty of times without giving it much thought, but finally decided to stop in, and we’re so glad we did.
We ordered to go boxes, and not a single item disappointed. Everything was packed with flavor and incredibly tender. My husband and I kept saying “just one more bite” as we moved from one dish to the next and couldn’t stop.
We will definitely be back and plan to become regulars. Don’t make the same mistake we did, check this place out as soon as you can!

Jonetta was the one who took care of us. She was amazing! We stopped here on our way from the Buford, Ga area on our way to Myrtle Beach, SC, just before Thanksgiving. She made sure we hade everything we needed and also had great conversations. Our 12 yr old son loved talking with her as well. Highly recommend her and the restaurant. Very fresh salad bar.

The food was very well prepared. I didn’t particular eat a lot because I sampled everything I would normally eat. It was my first time. Jennetta was great. She went above and beyond to make sure our table was cleaned and provided sufficient refills. The atmosphere was very good as well.

The food was hot, fresh & plentiful! We didn’t have to wait for refills on our drinks or for food to be put on the buffet if something was out. Everyone working was very friendly and accommodating. This was our first time visiting and it will be somewhere we come back to!
