Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes.
For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business.
Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.
Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

I got a milk shake and a burger. The milk shake was phenomenal. I enjoyed it so much. It was perfect sweetness to not bored me and I like the flavor and quality of ingredients so much. The burger wasn’t bad at all, fresh and tasty ingredients, but I missed the charr grill on the patty. I would come back for the milk shake and give the burger a second chance.

This has to be the absolute worst Steak ‘n Shake I’ve ever been to. Robo—order kiosks… wrong order, charges for extra bbq sauce, then did not put it in my to go bag, ordered large sweet tea….. tasted like unsweetened… asked about it”oh they must of made it wrong”. Not can I get you a different drink, can I make more, “ uh there’s sugar packets if you want”. COLD fries , no flavor burger….. I hope this location closes!!! Unbelievable!! Worst fast food experience ever!!!

Every year I travel to Indiana for an event. I always look forward to stopping at a Steak and Shake to get what I consider them original smash burger and shoe string fries.
This year was no different. I always order a couple of singles and a large fry. While it was good, it seemed like the burger shrunk since the last time I had one. I can’t say for sure but I felt like I should have ordered the double as the single felt like more bun than meat.
Thst said, it was still just as delicious as I remember, and the fries were hot and fresh.
I also had the chili (5 way) which was really good.

I recently visited the Steak ‘n Shake in St. Clairsville and went through the drive-thru. I had a great experience! The staff was friendly, and the service was impressively fast. I ordered a burger and a shake, and both were fantastic. The burger was fresh and tasty, and the shake was absolutely delicious – exactly what I was craving.
Since I only went through the drive-thru, I didn’t get a chance to go inside, but I did manage to take a few pictures of the exterior. Everything about my visit was smooth and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area again!

While the food is slightly more expensive it’s absolutely well worth it! My favorite thing is of course the shakes!! I ordered the orange creamsicle shake and omg it was mouth watering with the actual orange Popsicle in it plus the whipped cream and sprinkles. The burgers are amazing. Yes they are thin but if it’s too thin for ya get a double and it will definitely fill u up. The atmosphere is just completely gorgeous and chill. The decor is so retro & modern at the same time . Just so pretty…Now last but not least by any means the fact that when ur order is filled they actually call u by name and not just a number. Therefore it makes u feel so much more welcome and almost like ur at home EVERYTIME!!!

Went there twice. Once the ketchup pumps were empty, the chocolate milk shakes are still just vanilla milk shakes with chocolate syrup dumped in, so I would not recommend them.
The second time most of the drink station syrups tasted like they needed changed. My order wasn’t accurate either.
The fries are always good 🙂

Ordered the large double cheeseburger meal. The fried were either burnt, or soggy and brownish. Ordered my burger with extra onion. I opened the box, now I guess you have to construct the burger yourself now, because it was not put together, the patties were cold, the onions must’ve been from the opening shift (I ordered my food about 7 pm, and the pickles were dried out and tough. Now I see why their stuff is so cheap. Trying to be a lower cost McDonald’s, have the soggy brownish shoestrings that’s supposed to be fries to match.

Stopped by for a quick bite at a hometown favorite, Steak ‘n Shake and it did not disappoint. Got the Frisco with double (both types of) cheese add bacon as a combo meal and it’s as fresh and delicious as I remember. Maybe I was hungry but it was outstanding. The prices had us in shock they are still as affordable as they are for a combo meal. Perhaps that’s that California that’s in me now.

This was my first time at a Steak n Shake with the self service kiosks and I loved it! The only qualm I ever had with the chain has always been the slow service and this completely solved the issue. The food was amazing. The restaurant was clean. I wish I didn’t live an hour away.
