We were starving when we got to town so decided to eat at this restaurant. Of course, being the busiest night of the year, the line was long, but we only waited about 20 minutes! As a side note, something they did that I really loved was we had a member of our party who was feeling lightheaded and needed something to eat quickly, so they gave us a bag of Tortilla chips to get us by It was a wonderful touch and I think exemplifies how kind and professional the staff were.
Just inside the restaurant entrance to the left is a step down bar that was also packed. It looked like a fun, somewhat noisy, tyypical cantina!
Seating options were inside or outside, we chose first available. After being seated inside, our drinks came fairly quick. We ordered their cheese to go along with our tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were good. The salsa was a bit spicy, but my favorite was the cheese dip. It did have a little bit of a mild, spicy bite to it , but it was excellent in flavor.
My friends ordered the burrito plate to share and it was huge. They said the flavor was amazing. I ordered the chimichanga plate and it was literally just the perfect size. The Spanish rice side was average Spanish rice, the refried beans were very good and my steak chimichanga was cooked to absolute perfection. The service was a little bit slow, but also they were slammed and I’m sure she had her hands full with other tables.
Overall, the food was very good and you could tell that they made it fresh on-site. My guacamole was also excellent. I’m extremely picky about Mexican food- I would definitely go back to this restaurant again.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is their bathroom situation is terrible. There’s 2 unisex bathrooms for an indoor and outdoor seating restaurant, and it’s simply not enough. They were not the cleanest. Overall, there’s a constant line waiting with no less than 4 to 5 people at all times- I think they could improve that so this could be just the perfect lunch or dinner spot.
The drink happy hour prices are outstanding: massive, award-winning house margaritas for just $9.99 and a huge 22 oz beer for only $5.50—you can’t beat that! And don’t skip dessert…the fried cheesecake is to die for.
On top of all that, the service was a 10 out of 10—friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience even better. Fantastic food, great portions, and unbeatable drink specials. We’ll definitely be back!
