Jax is the best in the business! The food is great, the staff is AMAZING and the building is beautiful. Not only is it perfect for a date night or happy hour (get the peirogis), but it’s our TOP choice for a wedding and event venue in the twin cities! Hayley (events coordinator) and Bill (owner) are amazing to work with and help you every step of the way to plan your perfect event!

Can’t forget to mention, the patio is amazing with a trout stream and water wheel. There are also various flower installations depending on the season. SPRING is our personal favorite

We went to Jax to celebrate my baby brother’s 50th birthday. It was a wonderful experience. Most of us ordered the prime rib which was cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. We love this place and have been going here for special occasions my entire life. ❤️

What’s not to love! Friendly and inviting staff and atmosphere with delicious food. I gave food 4 stars, because we just had HH appetizers and beverages, this time. The patio is Amazing, Relaxing and in my opinion, the best in the Twin Cities. Check out the video and pictures and decide for yourself, better yet stop in and see for yourself, the fall pumpkins and flower blooms provide a tranquil dining experience.

We visited happy hour to try some happy hour specials and normal menu items to compare and share some things.

To start, we ordered the half dozen oysters and half order of wedge salad. Both were incredibly sub par. The oysters had obviously been sitting in a chiller for awhile, had little to no brine left, and were chewy and a bit fishy tasting.
The wedge salad had about 6 crumbles of burnt bacon on it, served with one round slice of tomato sitting on the plate. The iceberg was acceptable but nothing special.

We then ordered the chicken pot pie, the bacon wrapped cream cheese filled cherry peppers, and fries.
The fries were lukewarm and while crispy, they weren’t great.
The pot pie was big, but the chicken tasted canned and was somehow dry inside of the sauce.
The real disappointment was the cherry peppers. Instead of the menu offering, what we got was some sort of green pepper stuffed with pimento cheese wrapped in burnt bacon.

Listen- I know that I still got food and while it was decent, it was not what was offered on the menu. When I notified the bartender about it, he offered to take it away and refund it. At this point, I was still hungry and I had lost my faith in the food quality after having tried 4 different items so far, so I chose to just keep it. He offered a dessert- I asked what they had but was not really wanting a dessert so I declined.

The whiskey cherry cokes on happy hour are not worth even the $9 HH price. They are small and mostly ice.

I’d give it a 1 but the bartender was friendly and attentive and it is a nice atmosphere. However I definitely won’t return.

We were billed in full for our items, despite the poor quality and misleading menu description. I understand I was offered a free dessert but that’s not what I wanted, and feel we should’ve been comped something as well paying customers who gave it a fair chance and still had a poor experience. To me, that was $100 wasted which is disappointing, especially during a time of great inflation when it’s not commonplace for most people to drop $$$ on a meal out.

Overall, I think Jax rides on its historical coattails but lacks and true depth or quality. The overall vibe and food feels tired. The bartenders are friendly and attentive, but something feels off about the quality of food, drink and service.

Finally made it! Went to happy hour, really enjoyed this old school, well cared for supper club, they have a fireplace, piano, and a nice patio, also ample off street parking. Had the old fashioned, a tomato burrata bruschetta, perogi’s, and the prime rib sandwich – all quite good. Worth the trip, we’ll go back

I would love to give them a hundred stars if I could. We celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary there, the outdoor space was romantic. They set us up on the slower side of the restaurant and we felt like we were the only two there. The staff friendly and inviting, the food was delicious. Best anniversary dinner yet.
They even went so far as to make us personalized matches. 20/10 we will be back

Great location and great atmosphere. Interior is nice but the garden stands out! There’s a stream that has live trout in where it can be net for dinner. We were not lucky so we got other foods and it was good!
